ken kesey referred to it-290 as the rolls royce of psycedelics but i cant really find to much on it. history and some general info would be cool.my buddy told me it was just amt.

Being that it was an experimental research chemical in the 60s, it has a couple other names too:

Alternate names: 3-(2-Aminopropyl)indole. Indopan (USSR), IT-290 (d,l form) (Sandoz), IT403 (d form) (Sandoz), U-14,164E (d,l form) (Upjohn), AMT.

I have always assumed it was a bit crap. That and the fact that I'm not a great fan of alpha substitutions might explain why it's been so easily available but I have never been tempted to try it.

Is it really the Royles Royce of psychedelics? Shulgin doesn't seem to think so.

ken kesey and the marry pranksters reffered to it 290 as the rolls royce of psycs in the movie Magic Trip.

AMT is kind of hit or miss for some, and also dose sensitive.
Generally the people who like AMT, like it a lot, though.

Yes, as others have said, IT-290 is indeed the same thing as AMT (aka alpha-Methyltryptamine).

Since your question has been answered I'm going to close this now. You can continue to discuss AMT in The Big & Dandy AMT Thread though. :)
