Cocaine Is intranasal use of cocaine really the best?

I tried rubbing it on my eyes, but the best way is indeed the nostril

This way this was ACTUALLY done prior to ocular surgery (as a local anaestetic...I'm talking like a century plus ago) or putting in contacts (they used to be hard and HUGE)

During WW1, didn't they sometimes - when soldiers had like gaping wounds - pack them with clumps of powder that was a combo of cocaine (pain) and penicillin (infection)?

Perhaps in an attempt to try and prevent Gas Gangrene?*

*Obviously on battlefields and in trenches etc, there was all sorts of bacteria and wounds would be filthy...to stop bleeding and because they thought it would speed up healing, they just used to stitch 'em right up...which trapped the dirt and bacteria inside leading to a very-rapid-spreading (moving as fast as an inch an hour along muscles) necrotizing soft tissue infection.

idk but in the film drugstore cowboy ( ) he steals medical cocaine, so it must be a thing
