Is Heroin as overhyped as coke?

In the world today, it seems that heroin and cocaine are the two most hyped up and 'taboo' drugs out there. Like most people, I bought into this until I actually started doing coke and realized it doesn't come anywhere close to living up to the reputation that it has. Is heroin the same way, or does it actually deserve all the attention it gets?
 
Heroin to coke is like a star to a flashlight IMO. With H you don't fiend for it right after you do it, it lasts for several hours, and 10 dollars worth can last you a whole day if you have no tolernce, oh and no hangover. Only draw back is that if you do it to much you get addicted, and withdrawl isn't fun, but neither is crashing from coke.
 
In some ways heroin is overhyped, in other ways it's not. Definantly not in the same sense or extremes that cocaine is hyped, though.
The dangers of heroin are overstated. While if you do get addicted, all those terrible things you hear about can happen. But it's overstated because the addiction does not magically happen overnight. You have the conscious ability to keep using or to stop using long before you become physically addicted.
The heroin high is also overstated. It's not the best euphoria you could ever imagine that will lead anyone who tries it to become addicted that very first time. Infact, most people don't like it their first time. But the high is comforting and pleasant enough.. and just makes life so much more tolerable that users will continue using and not care about getting hooked.
 
well , all I can really add to the subject is that you get your money's worth in heroin , but I think coke prices don't make up for the high.
 
If you are not opiate tolerant, you do NOT need to shoot to get your money's worth.
Snorting a $10 or a $20 bag will get you plenty high for several hours. In some cities, a $20 bag might even be too much just snorted.
 
I love blow but I am the first to admit that it is over-hyped. The problem is people expect so much from it that it can never live up to everyone's expectations. It's like wine, it get's better with age. The more you do it the better you will come to like it. As far as Herion I believe that it lives up to all of its hype. That shit is nothing to fuck around with unless your ready to handle all the baggage that comes along with it. Be careful because that shit can ruin your life if you let it. But when used properly there is nothing else like dope & blow...
 
Heroin is way more overhyped than blow. Snort some blow and then try feeling depressed and sorry for yourself. You can definatly do this while high as fuck on heroin. It isn't a direct euphoriant the same way coke seems to be.
If stimulants had as few nasty side effects as heroin did I think we would all be addicts.
Then again it is of course all a matter of individual preference. On opiates all your problems aren't that big a deal. Forget your troubles and drift into the pleasant warm fog. If you have alot you need to escape from heroin definatly provides a way out that stimulants don't.
Ecstasy is way underhyped. Nothing I have shot, smoked, swalloed or fucked has ever compared with my first roll. Maybe a good speedball is nearly as good but that first roll is trancedentally good I can hardly imagine this.

I read about the experience Phreex had on oxymorphone, and was about 2 go and try 2 fuk him for that second dose. Yes, im a guy, and no im not gay...Im willing 2 jump in front of a speeding car 2 get a shot of this stuff. damn .::foaming at the mouth::.

Yes, addiction to heroin is at least as bad as everyone makes it out to be (I am addicted). BUT! I did NOT become addicted overnight. I had to work at it. I had to make a conscious effort, and a conscious decision to not care about becoming addicted. I can still remember saying to myself, "I don't care if I get a habit." It was a choice. I didn't suddenly turn poor, pregnant and homeless after that first, second, third or even fourth time doing Heroin. It's a long and winding road that gets one to where I am.
You seem to have taken the shortest trip to becoming an idiot. Have you ever known different?

I did become pregnant. I don't know how that happened being that I'm a guy. I guess heroin is the devil and this is what I get for sharing needles with homeless guys in alleys, which is what heroin addiction is really all about. Because it's not overstated!

Long Answer: Fuck yes.
It still boggles my mind how such a boring and lackluster drug has managed to elicit so much intense love and hate from society as a whole...
 
Well, yes and no ...
Cocaine is 100% hyper unless you inject it... I mean, people say it's "great" but unless yer a girl, you just get a little speed buzz, nothing much...
But heroin is a little differn't - it's a very dynamic drug and if you use it you WILL have a really good experience (most will) .. the thing is, they hype it as being "so addictive you will get hooked your first time" or say it's like "10,000 orgasams" or that it's "so pleasureable you wont ever want to do anything else" .. the truth is that you get a nice wave of warmth, it will disolve your problems, but little more ...
Heroin (well, opioids in general) are definitly my favorite drugs - and the only drugs I currently use on an almost daily basis - but I still say that MDMA will provide you with more euphoria...
Just my opinion but I have done enough of the 3 drugs to consider mysed "versed" on the subject..
 
I get frustrated with the "heroin takes away or makes you forget your problems". I don't use it to forget or dull my problems , but rather to deal with my problems face to face rather then let your inhibitions get in the way. You can speak better , think more clearly and boost your confidence even if you just do a little. If anything , I avoided my problems before opiate use. Especially when I was a fool and smoked pot everyday.
I am stopping heroin only because of money. If money wasn't an issue , then I would never consider stopping.
