I have two hamsters, and I've gotten into the habit of eating their food. It's really nothing more than dehydrated oat, millet, corn, sun flower seeds and stuff, but since it's technically not meant for ingestion by human beings could it ever harm me?

It just tastes really good.

i always wanted a giant version of one of those water bottles to drink out of

^lol! I've seriously always wanted a hamster wheel to run on.

my kitties drink from a large bottle like that, though.

Edvard- why not just go to a hippie store and get stuff from the grain bin section? I doubt if eating your hamsters food is dangerous, but it probably has different standards as to how clean the manufacturing needs to be? That's just a guess. I always put my bird food and hamster food, if it is seed based, in the freezer for a few days when I get it home, because I've had too many bug infestation problems in the past from that stuff.

but how would i explain a giant enema bag hanging from my ceiling to visitors?

you should feed your hamsters "square meals" or pellets. one of my hambones got addicted to sunflower seeds and refused to eat anything else. wet tail is a bitch

Agreed. Go to the store and go wild....make your own granola or something. Rolled oats, rolled wheat, sunflower seeds, brown sugar, vanilla and orange extracts, walnuts, and dried apples.....the possibilities are endless.

ehh.. sometimes ill just eat fruit, nuts and yogurt. it's good for taste, it's cheap, and it's healthy. i don't think you'd get the nutrition you need from food meant for an organism 1/100th your size and weight

Grass is always greener on the other side of the fence eh? ;) I'm sure if your hamster could talk, he'd be like DAYUM i wish i could your poptarts!

^^THAT is one of the cutest hammies i have EVER seen!! omg!! i don't even like hamsters!!!

to the OP: i agree with vibby, i don't think it's unhealthy but more than likely they have lower food quality standards than human food. i have a reeeeaallly good recipe for granola bars if you'd like. :);)

That is a pretty cute hammie.

I spoil mine rotten. I have two, and on the second day I got them I thought "You guys are too cramped in your cage", so I bought them a second one which connects to the first. I spent like ... over a $100 on hamster supplies so far. Ugh.

I can't imagine eating hampster food would be very enjoyable, though I do know people who feed there hampster human food. That hampsters is fat though.
