Is everybody addicted to something?

we are all bound to the laws of reality. its not really a choice, its how reality is and how our mind works. its the way for any being.
and I believe that its the path that leads to long term and possibly permanent happiness, yes.

^Isn't that a sort of absolutism that buddhism would normally be shy about? There's very rarely just once answer to a question.

the path is quite simple and very clear and systematic because this is how it works.
reality is a system and is absolute in how it works the same way for every being so at one point yes it can be seen absolute but its because it is how it is.
The truth is the truth and theres no way around the truth. some things are universal and if you always repeat the same mistake, the same consequence will occur.

the law is the law and it will never change and the absolute reality is a absolute.

For example, if you focus in the present moment and dont think about the past or crave for the future and focus on something that is real and follow it you will create much less problems in your mind then if you think about something in the past that happened and that you cannot change. If you focus your attention on the breath right now, you cannot suffer about something that stress you in your life ect. if you follow it quite closely, you will find that it brings peace to your mind and that all your problems are mainly created by you and that they dont really exist if you dont make it exist in your mind and that reality is much more peaceful and calm that what we would like to believe.

That's true. I sometimes get so tired of all this "All is relative" crap. Not everything is relative.

People who say "I don't like to talk in absolutes". What's the point? There are absolutes.

We can clearly see much is also relative but that doesn't mean there are no absolutes.

Food wise, my body is addicted to milk. I almost need to have a glass every night..

Yes, but he was saying (absolutely) that only through Buddhism can we become liberated. Surely you don't agree with that?

No, I think you could just as well get liberated through Gnostic Christianity. It depends what part of the world someone lives in. Buddhism hasn't always been known throughout the world like it is now.
