Is Cold Medicine Less Effective Because of the Meth War?

You can still buy Ephedrine OTC in Canada as far as I know. They just won't allow more than 8mg/ capsule.

In my part of the country pseudoephedrine is behind the counter in most places even though there is very little meth in my area. There's fuck all.

The strange thing is you can still buy ephedrine off the shelves in some places in 8mg per pill doses. Id rather ephedrine anyday then pseudoephedrine for a stuffed up nose because i find it has way less side effect's. I hate sudafed.

what in it is so harmful?

Read the ingredient list the next time you pick some up.

They have added new gakks every 3 months for the last few years it seems like, impossible to keep track, every time you get some it has some new fucked up ingredient to keep it from reducing into Meth.

Titanium Monodioxofivabileate fucking shit I wouldn't want to pronounce let alone ingest.

adderall (or any form of amphetamine/dexamph) works decongests completely and immediately, but of course, this is a controlled substance, and is never really used for anything besides add or getting spun.. this whole thing is pretty ridiculous. the "meth war" has been blown waaayyy out of proportion. its like the whole mdma propaganda of the 90s, except meth is actually quite harmful even if used in moderation. STILL, meth is not used nearly as much as the govt tells us. ecstasy is used far more, and so is cocaine. I don't see desoxyn being discontinued either. i dont know why the govt thinks that the people are actually buying all this bs. It seems that at all times, there has to be severe propaganda against some drug. From lsd (60s-70s) to cocaine and especially crack (80s) to mdma to ghb to marijuana (90s, except mj has always had this problem) to meth (now).

Anyone who has been making meth is not going to be stopped just cuz sudafed is harder to acquire. either they will order it (i dont think its actually scheduled, that would be ridiculous.. thats like scheduling sassafras just because it can be used a precursor to mdma). I think prescription drugs cause FAR more problems than any illegal drugs, except for heroin (which is very similar to many rx drugs) and ghb (im talking addiction and withdrawal-wise)... far more people are addicted to drugs like alprazolam oxycodone nicotine and alcohol. I myself have a pretty bad opiate/benzo problem. I've never seen the government do anything about xanax abuse or any benzo besides flunitrazepam... and all this shit about meth, but what about adderall, which is the most commonly prescribed abusable drug to minors? even though meth is worse, both are amphetamines, and adderall abuse is much much more common, and ultimately can lead to the same problems as meth (anybody that thinks adderall is a joke isnt really thinking about what adderall really is)

Many people, however, are still coughing their way through winter.

Active Medication Ingredient Pseudoephedrine a Main Ingredient in Making Crystal Meth

if they took a cough suppressant instead of a decongestant they might stop coughing :p

well theyre talking about cold medicine here... "people are still congesting their way through the winter"? no need to go into trivial details like that

This isn't true. Ive already been to a few pharmacies here in canada that have sudafed behind the counter. Maybe it just hasn't moved to your area yet, don't worry it will soon enough...:p

nah i'm not asking them to do that, i just do not understand why the article discusses a decongestant thoughout, then finishes up with a comment that many people are still coughing their way through winter. it didn't read right for me.

McNneil Healthcare, which makes Tylenol cold medication, said both the old and new drugs "have been found safe and effective ingredients by the FDA."

Many people, however, are still coughing their way through winter

now to me that reads "both old and new drugs are ineffective at preventing coughs."

Sudafed is still out on display here in TO. They're not going to put it 'behind the counter' here I doubt but even if they do, unless you're buying it by the crate, who cares? just ask for it.

Much bigger problems to worry about.

in Western Australia, you cant get psuedoephedrine anymore, all cold medications are kept behind the counter and they all contain Phenylepherine. Well, that's at all the pharmacies I've tried anyway. Phenylepherine is rubbish, it lasts about half the time and works half as well.... I'm positive this is a ploy to make consumers take more of it and therefore have to purchase more... dont' think for a second any comapny gives a toss about people's actual welfare more than they care about money.

So I just stick to megadosing on vitamins and cutting out milk... haven't been sick for ages and I used to all the time. and on the rare occasion I DO get stuffy... well, meth is usually easier to get than going to the chemist anyway... it does the job, with added benefits hehe :)

afaik there are still medicines available containing pseudoephedrine. if anyone in W.A. can confirm that it has been completely removed from the market then please do.

Crystal Methamphetamine produced in Mexico which is higher quality and cheaper than the meth that was made in home labs.

Fucking NAFTA! How irresponsible and braindead is our domestic policy when we're outsourcing jobs that could mean so much to American families? =D Damn the globalist agenda. =( Do meth cooks who've found their vitality has been affected by Mexico have any kind of a case they can bring with the WTO to protest the blatant "dumping" of meth below market value on the American market?
