Opioids Is codeine that physically addictng ?

Does anyone know the lethal codeine dose for an average individual? I just read someone saying 800 mg / 1 g can kill someone, while, i have been redosing 400 mgs twice in maybe 4,5 hours with no issues at all. And i am not so sure about that 400 mg ceiling dose because i most certainly did feel the second 400 mg ^^

I might indeed recreationally try a few NMDA antagonists (K, but not dxm because of my effexor use) for opioid tolerance. And if i stay with half a week codeine binges it should be fine tolerance wise (with some sport for endorphins too hehe).

Thanks

Well 400mg is the ceiling dose. Next one up is Dihydrocodeine that has no ceiling dose and can be redosed with full effect. Codiene is a short acting opiod 4/5 hours it's basically all gone so yeah you'll feel a redose, try doing it sooner and it won't do a thing.

Lethal dose is different for everyone. Dose 800mg within 4 hours of your first dose you might just find that's your lethal dose. Luckily you've been giving it 4/5 hours between doses.

opiates just lead to more opiates , being on oxycotin and kapanol and codeine poppy pods opium for 5 years now, sucks when you get sick man be carful....

800mgs at once is the lethal dose. Codiene has a half life of 2.5 hours. If you take 400mg (the max ceiling dose), in two hours and thirty minutes you have only 200mg in your system. At four hours you only had 100mg or so in your system. You should of only dosed 300mg. You ended up wasting 100mg. This is why you felt the second dose, because you ingested the ceiling dose after some time of the previous dose being metabolized.

If you took 400mg an hour after the first dose you would not feel it and you would possibly overdose.

I thought the celing was only for morphine and that other metabolites also contributed to the effects.

Codeine is metabolized to C6G by uridine diphosphate glucuronosyl transferase UGT2B7, and, since only about 5% of codeine is metabolized by cytochrome P450 CYP2D6, the current evidence is that codeine-6-glucuronide (C6G) is the primary active compound.[20] Claims about the supposed "ceiling effect" of codeine doses seemed to rest on the assumption that high doses of codeine saturated CYP2D6, which prevented further conversion of codeine to morphine, which is simply incorrect since we now know that codeine-6-glucuronide (C6G) is the main metabolite responsible for codeine's analgesia.[9] There is also no evidence that CYP2D6 inhibition is useful in treating codeine dependence,[21] though the metabolism of codeine to morphine (and hence further metabolism to glucuronide morphine conjugates) does have an effect on the abuse potential of codeine.[22] However, CYP2D6 has been implicated in the toxicity and death of neonates when codeine is administered to lactating mothers, particularly those with increased 2D6 activity ("ultra-rapid" metabolisers).[23][24]

Highly recommended. Too bad you can't take DXM, but, yes, better off not risking serotonin syndrome or any other complications. You'll have, from my experience, really indulge in the K to get a good NMDA antagonist effect from it. But I have been wrong before... Hah, and if it came down to that, this is not the worst news in the world - having to use MORE ket I mean :p

Just wondering about obtaining codeine OTC (in form of T1s where I am), thinking about getting some to help with withdrawals, but I've never done it before and hey, I'm kinda nervous... I do have legitimate pain but do I have to explain that to the pharmacist? Will they ask me questions or just say here you go? And any idea in terms of cost... I have no idea. I know we're not supposed to talk about pricing but this is something legal and OTC and I'm trying to stop with opiates altogether.

Thx everyone... I'm a bit of a newb at this as you can probably tell 8)

"Can i get a bottle of tylenol with codeine?"

You make it sound so simple :) guess I will give it a try at my local pharmacy... thanks

Codeine is most definitely addictive. I had a 6-year tylenol 3 habit that I just ended last year.
After a while it doesnt get you high anymore, and you have to keep taking codeine to ward off withdrawal symptoms.

Opiates are bad news. Period!!

Codeine is very addictive.
I have been useing codeine now for 40 years.
Yes i do have to do codeine to start my day @ 2:00am.
What a life, but i do have all kinds of cannabis as i have my MMAR for 5gms a day.
