Is Bluelight dying ?

I thought the deal was...
i thought the rams would surely beat the 49ers on mnf...

Having said that, making eadd private like the lounge just because of one freak is not beneficial for encouraging new members.
i'm not sure anybody is suggesting that, are they?

I dont know if making the lounge public again would help or not but making it open to greenlighters again might help things.
thanks.

I thought the deal was that if we went semi private like we are now that you would ease up on the super strict social justice warrior style policies you previously tried to enforce? Maybe I am wrong but that is the way I understood it.
How can anybody consider treating other people like human beings anything other than a positive thing? You can't just create a toxic atmosphere, then get pissed off because other people don't want to hang around and breath it. That isn't the way the world works. You're like a bunch of kids who've shit in the sandpit, pulled the heads off your dolls, scratched your records, ruined your art materials, blunted your woodworking tools, smashed your toy cars, stained and torn your dressing-up clothes -- and are now full of jealousy and resentment when you see all the other kids playing with their nice toys they haven't broken, but they won't invite you to their houses anymore .....

And of course your lives wouldn't be worth living, if you weren't allowed to call these people you see enjoying themselves f****ts or n****rs or anything unpleasant you can think of, by way of blaming them for not being as miserable as you.

Maybe a bunch of us could get together and help you deal with the obstacle that is preventing you from setting up your own Internet forum where there is plenty of friendly banter like f****t, b***h, n****r, t****y, p*****r, s**t, and there are no nazis with moderating sticks (or if there are, they will just call the complainer a whinging p***y and tell them to shut the f*** up and man the f*** up or get the f*** out).

Hiding EADD seems like a pointless exercise. I must admit i dont know or understand why the lounge is hidden. View and post at your own discretion. At least open it to greenlighters in my opinion. Either way it does not really affect me. I have posted there a handful of times. I prefer EADD

On another forum I frequent, there are areas closed to members with a low post count, where discussion on matters somewhat tangential to the main purpose of the forum is permitted. This works, in that it recognises the impossibility of preventing altogether a conversation from following one of certain standard detours, but keeps people away who otherwise might be asking questions on side issues -- by the time anyone has completed the requiements to gain access, they will already have some familiarity with the forum as a whole, and probably have a good idea who to send a private message to on a matter that doesn't really belong in any of the public areas, thereby keeping the signal:noise ratio high there.

I honestly can't see what would be gained by "hiding" EADD. It would just turn Bluelight more US-centred. And it's probably bad enough already with EADD being as British-centred as it is ..... after all, we Brits are still less than 0.1% of the world .....

I don't have a problem with The Lounge being hidden from Greenlighters, but I will freely admit to a certain general lack of fondness for the place. If people want to spout hateful, hurtful comments, at least they can do it somewhere normal people don't have to see it.

To the contrary I find this to be more of a toxic atmosphere. It's is all relative to your experiences. Americans value honesty, integrity, humor(not humour), and above all freedom of expression/speech. More people post in the lounge than EAAD at a greater frequency. Id venture to say many of us are much tighter as a whole and have/would meet up with each other. I texted a homosexual asian newyorker a shirtless pic of myself today. So plz dont come at me with any accusations of being any of the isms. Id venture to say we are the most tolerant understanding group on this site we just cut the shit; no need for platitudes/pleasantries/other disingenuous forms of gerneral internet discourse.

Thia must be a clash of value systems, then. As far as I am concerned, good manners cost nothing and make the world a generally nicer place to live in. Free speech does not mean the right to say whatever the hell you like without consequences. Life is not fair, but the whole point of civilisation is to try as hard as possible to make life fair. British people also have a strong sense of distinction between "one's own business" and "other people's business", and this informs all our behaviour -- particularly when interpreted as other people should not have to deal with my shit.

It's probably something you just can't understand, like how British people are prepared to forgo the right to bear arms in favour of a more fundamental right not to get shot.

German's forgo the rights to free speech once upon a time. Ditto North Korea and China.

Censorship by undemocratic dictatorships are always fraught with danger

Nice post @BecomingJulie. Btw : I don't get the Lounge-talk at all. 8(

Means I don't understand the fuzz about the Lounge in this thread and I don't get most of the threads in The Lounge itself.

This exactly ^

Hence the lounge not appreciating being dictated by a bunch of Euros. We prefer to cling to our guns, freedom of speech, and offensive humor. We keep to ourselves in our own forum. I think it comes down to people getting a little bit of power feel they need to use it to make up for inadequacies in their own lives. That being said the lounge is in a good place right now but I do think it should be open to American green lighters. Maybe at sign up only grant like american and aussie greenlighters access???

So no European greenlighter allowed ? Why are Americans at all allowed in EADD ? Should introduce pass surveillance.

Please keep in mind that DROPEM here does not speak for the Lounge. He's just one of our overly-enthusiastic little dudes that's more than a bit special.

He is just here to play with you, and gets very excited over this American vs Euro business that burns bright in the minds and hearts of some posters.

Regards,
MEL22.

Bluelight is more comparable to a private party in someone else's house. That means, they get to set their own rules above and beyond the Law of the Land -- the important thing being, their special rules only apply on their land. You are perfectly free to call me [spoil]an ugly modstick-wielding Nazi in a frock and pit boots[/spoil] -- just not in Ali's houseon Bluelight.

If you can't grasp that concept, you're being deliberately obtuse.

That's a ridiculous analogy. Yes the atmosphere is toxic but nobody within the community is complaining that "other people don't want to hang around and breath it". That maybe YOUR complaint but don't put in on the lounge rats.

Same with the second bit: shit in sandpit, broken all the toys etc. is a fairly accurate description but there is no resentment or desire to be with the other kids so again, stop putting your thoughts onto the lounge.

This thread shouldn't be about the Lounge, and no good will come of it - not here, and not like this.

I don't like this us vs. them shit, and both sides have contributed to it...it's no good for anyone. I don't want it to get worse, but I'd really like it to calm the fuck down.
