Bright collours everthing awesome and strange
Or well the experiance is subjective but is it similar

No. I mean, I haven't experienced schizophrenia personally, but being a Psych major, I have been able to study it. Schizophrenia presents itself in multiple forms-- catatonic, disorganized, paranoid. The latter is the archetypal schizophrenic, often complete with symptoms such as auditory and visual hallucinations. However, I would not say that they are 'awesome', although strange I'm sure. Many schizophrenics have uncomfortable, racing thoughts, and those of the paranoid variety are usually too busy being fearful of organizations out to get them to stop and marvel at how their brain is making things look different. Because it's very real to them.

Ya its not like you develope schiszophrenia and it feels like you just took a drug that lasts forever. its like this is how you see the world and it seems real but your psychiatrist is telling you what your experiencing is not real and its an illness. i imagine it would horrible. but i saw a documentary where a guy didnt take his medications becuase he was lonely and he liked it when the birds and the sun talked to him and actualy smoked cannibis to intensify it just out of lonelyness.

Yes, in someways, but in most ways, no.
I was never schizophrenic, and hope to never be haha, but you know how you see things in patterns and actually see patterns on things while tripping? Well skitzophrenics see this too, maybe in a different sort of way though, but the idea is similar. The view in patterns. They usually don't notice this as being anything different, like the person above me said, the schizophrenic is usually to paranoid or afraid of the hallucinations and voices to really notice any changes in vision. Also a lot of the hallucinations seen by schizophrenic's are more deleriant like hallucinations, like something you might see on DPH or datura, strange people walking in and out, voices in your head, talking to people who are not their, bugs, and a mong other things that are not really there. Hope this helps some what, but the basic answer is yes and no, somewhat psychedelic in meaning of patterning, deleriant like in the way of real-life and real-time hallucinations, but still some things are completely different and unimaginable or describable, only to be seen through the eyes of a schizophrenic

yeh, not really something to be fucking with...although i often wonder the same thing.

I have had a legitimate schizophrenic break, which lasted to some extent several months. It has been at least two years since I have had any signs or symptoms of schizophrenia... and this break was undoubtedly caused by a combination of Ketamine abuse, benzo withdrawl, and extreme stress circumstances in my life at the time.

Anyway, I can tell you that SCZ is nothing like tripping on any typical psychedelic. It is mostly like being paranoid, delusional, and you may also see and hear things that are not there which serve to reinforce your delusions. It's like making up your own horrible reality and you keep making up things to reinforce its validity.

Yes at one point I did hallucinate UFOs, think cell phone towers were mind control devices, and believe a part of the population was reptilian or alien. I also had dreams where the devil was trying to fuck with me, and had religous delusions as well. I thought the apocalypse was near. Fear and paranoia were constant.

So anyway to answer your question, NO. =D

Even the worst bad trip is nothing compared to paranoid schizophrenia.

By this definition I was part schizophrenic at one point haha! I use to believe in reptillians, but not anymore, I believed it to a strong extent. I saw UFOs before, but I do not think this was a hallucination. I guess we are all skitzo in the sense we reinforce are beliefs, but hell not to that extent. ALso lots of voices

Gymstud i love your screen name and i love your posts! always an interesting take on things ;)
anyways schizophrenia is far worse than any bad trip, your worst nightmare extended to an entire life time that you can never wake up from. Not exactly the wow pretty colors and wavy shit happy tripping kind of time you might think.

No, when you're tripping you know you are on a drug and it will wear off, when you are schizophrenic you have no idea what is real and what isn't.

No. While not having the disorder, it is readily apparent that it is not the same when one observes or talks to a person who has it, vs talking to and observing someone tripping. Reading some relevant literature one is left with the same impression.

Stimulant induced psychosis is a much better drug model, at least for paranoid type, in the "positive"* symptoms (i.e. the active delusions and hallucinations) but still does not model the "negative" i.e. social withdrawal and such.

* Positive and negative do not refer to them being pleasant or good, or not, its to distinguish -roughly- active vs passive.

Can you find out the name of this documentary? Sounds interesting.

Dunno, I've taken enough oral DMT to stun a charging rhino and still been aware I was on a drug. Do you trip and not understand that you are on drugs?

Yeh, several times this has happened. On salvia specifically, I become a cog in a machine turning endlessly and forget I ever lived.

That's unusual - one of the common characteristics of psychedelic drugs is that you are aware that you are on a drug.

I disagree, there are many trip reports of ++++ experiences in which people may feel as if they have died or forget they have ever been human. And also I agree that amphetamine abuse or dissociative drug abuse are much more like schizophrenia than being on psychedelics, although still far from the same. I think dreams are more similar to schizophrenia than drug experience, alot of times in dreams you just "know" certain strange things are happening without any logical evidence that they are happening.

Like Rangz said, schizophrenia is a lot more like stimulant psychosis than a bad trip.

No, a ++++ experience is nothing like schizophrenia.

Listen to the people who have posted here who either have SCZ or have had a schizo break (like myself). No comparison. I can understand why people might be curious as to what it's like, but believe me. It's hell on earth.

That said, not every moment of being schizophrenic is terrifying or filled with paranoia. But pretty much the entire time you are delusional in one, or more likely, a shit ton of ways.
