I am just wondering, I read that it is normal, but I just wanted to make sure... but after IVings into a vein , getting a small bump at the spot is normal right? Its not huge or big or anything, its on my hand because I had a friend show me how to do it the first time anf he did it, then the second time I got it without a problem in my arm, but the third time I had troubles and the fourth, last... i couldn't get it to register ( get blood to come into syringe), so i just looked at my veiny hands and did that and got the blood quickly.. but was just wondering if the small bump is normal.

Also. what is it that I could be doing wrong that I couldnt get it to register in my arm? I definitely did it where a vein was, I even used a tie to make it more apparent, but still I couldnt get blood to come out that way.. why? Am I doing something wrong.. what could I be doing wrong? Is it the angle.. or what.. is the very important for the angle to be a certain way?

But mainly i just wanted to make sure the bump was normal. and I am fairly sure it is normal.. and I also read there is no problem with using your hand if you can't do it in ur arm, its just the veins are thinner, and harder to hit and closer to the skin.. other than that, its safe right?

Is there any redness/bruising around the site at all? It could be inflammation if you've irritated the area and that would be likely to hurt or itch.

no, if you shot whatever you were shooting iv then there'd be the puncture (obviously) and little else.
it sounds like you shot at least parts of it SC which shouldn't be too big of a problem if the solution was properly filtered. wait a day or two, and if it starts to really really hurt after a few days, seek medical help.

i only ever got a bump when i missed a bit. keep it warm to help it dissipate. try warming your arm before a shot, this should make the veins more prominent and dont tie off too tight as this will restrict blood flow.

Yup, just sounds like a partial miss. All it takes is a little bit of the solution to end up in the tissue surrounding your vein for a lump to form. It goes away fairly quickly.

As far why you couldn't hit in your arm.. could be a bunch of reasons. Improper angle, rolling vein, etc. Veins just get finicky sometimes and you need to adjust your positioning.

For me, it is not normal. After an intravenous shot, I never do more bumps because snorting simply would not have any effect and would be a waste of dope, especially if the bumps are small.

J/k. I agree with the above. This usually happened to me with a fresh rig that would either punch through the vein, or an older rig that would 'hook' under the skin and roughly exit the vein.

I dunno why all these guys don't get a bump but I do. I notice that maybe 2 out of 5 people usually get a little bump. I get it even when I give blood, not just when I do drugs.

Even if I am 100% positive I hit the vein and got it perfect I get what looks to be a misquito bite. It's not painful, or bruised, or large, but I do have a small bump yes.

**edit**

PS- although veins in your hand do technically work, I usually try to stay away from anything below 3/4's down my forearm. I know people do it in between fingers, toes, in their crotch, all kinds of things (even heard of a friend shooting in neck) but for the sake of safety and ease of doing it, I usually stick to my forearms, elbow crease, bicep veins, armpit (gotta be careful here), and sometimes the ones down by my wrist, and very rarely on my hands.

I think it depends on the person. And sometimes on the dope being used. I have known lots of people who would get a tiny bump around the puncture site after every single time they used. Of course there are also a lot of factors that can make this more likely to happen, like missing a little bit, using a dull needle (a needle can get dull very fast, even if you have to try a few times before you hit a vein, I recommend using a fresh syringe for every time you puncture your skin), not filtering your dope, using dope that is cut with something else, using poorly processed dope, hitting small delicate veins such as those on your hands or feet, etc. But some people just seem to get a bump no matter what they do, it could be that they have very sensitive skin, or it could be a histamine reaction. If it's just a tiny bump or irritation which heals relatively quickly then it's probably nothing serious. I have gotten a bump like that even when having blood taken by a nurse. So for some people it is "normal".

yeah thanks everyone, I was up all night playing Diablo 3 hahah, finishing Act 1 took FOREVER and thats what I was waiting to go to sleep for, and when I woke up the bump was gone, or bumps.. I think they were just from missing, since I couldn't get it on my arm after numerous times... but I think its because it was really hard for me to even see where to put it cause it was all red, and where my friend did it there was a red mark.

But it seemed like my hand worked fine, but I dont want my hand being all messed up looking, so you guys are saying to do it in my arm if i can? Does anyony have a picture of veins or picture of something that would help me on techqnique possibly

Here is a diagram:

You want to inject into the biggest vein in the crook of your arm (the front side of where the elbow is). This is normally the basilic vein. It should be quite close to the surface and easy to see and feel in most people (other than long-term injection drug users). The left arm is easiest to start with if you are right-handed. It may be worth it to get a rubber tourniquet but most new IV users don't need one. Insert the needle at an angle with the needle going towards the heart (meaning upwards on your arm). With practice you should be able to feel whether it is in the vein. I'm sure there are some threads on injection techniques somewhere on here. It's best to rotate your veins and not use the same one twice in a row and give time to let the vein heal for a couple days, or at least use a different spot on the same vein (like slightly upward of the previous time).

Okay so I am a bit worried about this, but I think it will pass if I keep warm on it and take anti-imflammatory's (ibuprofen), but I think it will be okay and will go away because it wasn't that much or bad..

But what happened was I kept missing and missing and missing EVERYWHERE and for some stupid idea I was like, okay ill try my foot, there are tons of visble veins there. So i did that and I saw a TINY BIT of blood, it was so hard to see if it was even blood.. thats how little there was, but I knew it was blood because it was darker, so with the 10cc that was left after all of the missing, i shot that and nothing seemed wrong, but it got really red and had a decent sized lump ( i think it has gone down a little bit since it happened, the redness had definitely shrunk from where it spread).. and I was reading and I am guessing what happened was I hit a vein and then since the veins are so thin and small I rolled over it and shot the little bit into my foot .

It didnt hurt, I felt it somewhat, not as much as i should, but it just itched , and I was more worried about the one on my arm but that one went away completely, and im suspecting this to do the same. But I am a bit worried, I should be okay right? I mean, there was barely any blood that i shot into the muscle and it is in my foot.. not somewhere more vital, and I'm fairly sure it has gone down in swelling. I have taken some ibuprofen, as well as keeping a warm cloth wrapped around my foot.

thank you :)

P.S. I finally got the arm/elbow pit area down I believe and I'm not going to dare to do anything else anywhere else again after this.

the feet are more sketchy because more bacteria, less blood flow, keep an eye on it and go to a doctor if it goes fucked up.

Stay away from your feet. The veins there are so fragile that misses and irritation happen all the time. It could be a parital miss or a ruptured vein or a histamine reaction (when the area gets inflamed and itchy from an immune reaction to the dope, very common in the foot area). I'm sure it will be fine, just keep an eye on it and make sure it's gone down within 24 hours.

I strongly suggest that when you think you have found a vein you flag and make sure blood easily flows into the syringe, then very slowly start injecting and pay attention for anything that feels "wrong", then flag again to make sure it's still in the vein and still drawing up blood before injecting the rest. If you have been having trouble hitting or have been missing a lot then it might be a good idea to flag even more times in the process of injecting one shot. If you flag and no new blood enters the syringe then stop injecting and start over. There will be a bit of blood in the syringe, making it a bit harder to see when you flag, but it's better than missing. If you have to do this and have a syringe that already contains some blood, transfer it to a fresh syringe and when you flag you can tell if there is new blood going into the syringe because if there isn't it will look like air entered the syringe (it's actually a vacuum though). In fact if it ever looks like air is entering the syringe that means you are not in a vein. Let me know if you want any more tips, I have lots of them. Good luck, take your time and care because you don't want to end up destroying your veins.
