Is 24 hours enough time for veins to heal?

As in, can I inject in roughly the same spot after 24 hours?

I'm using thin, 31g needles if it makes a difference.

The places I can easily find veins are few and far between. Also, I'm not injecting daily, just on weekends, so I don't touch them Monday-Thursday.

I'd try to like not use the same vein (especially the same spot) repeatedly. You'll wear that poor little vessel out in no time.

@Violenza: Your weird mood seems pretty uppity and happy.

Yea,since you only do just the weekends, I would count how many injections you do, then find an equal number of veins to hit. Using a 31 guage is awsome imo, they hardly ever bruse, be safe.

Looks at one arm, checks the other, then rolls up a trouser leg just to make sure - nope.

Every now and then it won't be a problem - you'll be doing damage but it won't seem like it for a good while. It's very tempting to just use the same spot over and over when you have a good one cos it's so easy - even has a lil red spot to aim for. It's a bad habit that's easy to slip in to but it's really not a good idea. Every time you stick yourself it cause scarring. You won't notice it for quite a long time probably but when you do it's kinda to late cos it's ain't going back to the way it was, it shrivels and screws the vein itself - even if you could still hit a vein about the same size as a 31 gauge tip it hurts so bad if you try that you have to abandon it even if it doesn't collapse. Musical chairs is the way to go, for sure :)

Problem is sometimes I have to stab myself a few times to hit, so "one" use turns into 3 or 4...

I just wish I could find some veins! The one that works best is whatever one starts around the base of the thumb and goes up the inside of the wrist/lower arm. Other than that, the only place I can find anything is my hands, which everyone tells me to avoid. So ive been using that wrist vein, but rotating from left to right side.

Does it help that I'm injecting a few inches away from the previous location, even if it's the same vein?

And if I choose to stick with these two, will the 4 days I wait before I inject again be enough time to heal up and be safe?

For me, 1 week is a minimum amount of time between, 2 or 3 weeks (or more) is even better.

If I were you I'd scout out more veins. The weekend warrior theory rarely works out long term (not trying to knock you, it's just a fact) and if you constantly use the same injection sites you're going to wear them out real fast. When I first started down the IV road, I was using the same ones all the time, much like you are. It's been close to 5 years since then and I still can't use those I burned up back then.

Take a shower before you inject. Sit in front of a heater, lift weights, ect. Get that blood flowin. You can also find diagrams that show where they are on your body. I always used the heat method to get some ropes to pop up.

Thanks for the reply, Mr. Play. How often were you injecting the vein(s) you fried? And what exactly happened to them?

Right now I have 4 spots I can use. Two of those are on my hands, but now I'm guessing I'm better off using the hands than to constantly reuse the ones on my wrists...

It doesnt really sound like you know what your doing, maybe you should lay off mind altering drugs, im scared your brain isnt developed enough to handle such things. its ok just take a break and give yourself some time to reflect on the things you are doing to your body.

always rotate, and there are a lot more then 4 places on your body where you can inject yourself. places that wont be noticed like your hands...

Foul Play: in my case the weekend thing will work because I'm not giving up drugs during the week, just iv (I still plug during the week). Since I only have two veins I can easily hit, I was hoping they'd be ok with just weekend use.

I used them exclusively. Mostly because I was too sick to care about what would happen to them later. As an example I'd use one that ran up my arm from my wrist up to my shoulder. I'd rotate injection sites, but a vein will only last so long when you use the same one (no matter how exposed it is).

I was shooting tar heroin at the time, and tar is complete shit on your veins, at least with the junk we get here. I had a pretty heavy habit (half g a shot) & they basically shrunk and hardened up. I've used them since then, but before I could get it in on the first try. If I wanted to use them right now it would probably take 5 or 6 probes.

I didn't know anything about this site back then. Had I I'd probably have taken much better care with what I was doing. I've learned so much about proper injection from reading here.

I'm not taking advice from anyone who claims to be getting his dog high, thanks.

Good call =D
