Unfortunately my PC went into Hibernate mode the second I came back to it, so I only caught a glimpse, I can only remember seeing "Bluelight" and "Invite" for sure.
@Shambles no I haven't been on the PV for more than 10 years, nor anything else in recent times that would send me deranged
I was not imagining it, in other words.
Could it have been an invite to a Discord section or server, if BL has one of them? "Discord" may or may not have been on the pop up. Sorry I can't be sure.
Otherwise if there wasn't anyone sending out invites to some kind of chat groups or anything like that, I can only assume that it must have been some kind of phishing malware.
But that would be the first I've ever seen or heard of phishers attempting to steal people's Bluelight account details.
If I start speculating about it maybe being the police, then it's definitely going to sound like I've been on the peeve. So I won't do that. It would otherwise be rather odd though, for people to be phishing for bluelight login details.
I know it's extremely rife on Facebook, so many of the less tech savvy on my friends list have fallen prey to these things, the boomer generation lot mainly, as well as some of the least tech savvy in general, and had their accounts hacked.
But why would phishers want to steal bluelight login details? I'm not sure what the big thing is for stealing people's facebook logins either tbh, but obviously that's besides the point right now.
I'm relatively security and tech savvy on PCs, and can generally recognise when something is off, but I'm not so hot on Android smart phones, as a very late adapter. I've been caught out by malicious fake "re-direct popups" a couple of times, and it's taken hours to sort things out afterwards to cancel things I never wanted to sign up for. Fortunately this Bluelight popup happened on my PC, and I never even got so far as reading the whole thing, let alone deciding whether I should fill it in or not.
