Hi, I do intramuscular injections in my arms, and I was just wondering if someone could let me know if I should be using a 5/8" needle for injection or 1" needle. They are both 25gauge.

Also, I was wondering if anyone knew of a website or place I can order micron filters cheaply, the ones through amazon.com are out of my price range.

Thanks for the help!

really? i was thinking that the 1 inch was better because it can go deeper into the muscle, oh well maybe ill switch back to the 5/8" ones idk

It really depends on how much fat and muscle you have. If you have a heavy layer of fat a longer needle is good. I don't like longer needle because sometimes the skin is tough and I have hit bone before because it takes a lot of pressure to get the needle in and that sends chills all over my body. also you can go at 45* angle instead of 90*.

Pitching hat in the ring here. For IM try the; 1cc, 12.7mm (1/2 inch), 29g (.33mm) Comfort Point by Exel. They are an insulin syringe made for IM injections. Very sharp and not as thick as the 25g. Very cheap a 100 count should run you 13-15 American. These are one time use (of course) never use an insulin syringe more than once and never ever share a needle. Good luck and happy hunting.

I've never injected IM. I'm trying to find out where the safest/best place is on the body to inject. Any advice?

5/8ths will work fine. If you have a lot of body fat, or are a large person in general, 1" wouldn't hurt. For the thin people out there like me, 5/8ths will work just fine.

The best places to IM are thighs, glutes, and shoulder muscles.
