Internet meet-up stories.

I went to a BME convention and did whats called a pull. Its basically putting some giant hooks in your back and tying them to a rope and another person who also has hooks. I did that and then got really fucked up and met some goth chicks. Nothing really serious came out of being on BME, just some casual hook ups here and there. (not complaining, those women were freaky, they also had problems) I remember some chicks were into bondage and all sorts of weird shit.

cool

Fairly sure I've told this story before but hey-ho, it's a good one.

Started internet in 1997. Really never used it for much at first. In late 1998, on a saturday morning, I leapt out of bed and straight onto the net. I had never done this before. To this day I don't know why I did it then. More than that, I found myself typing in 'ecstasy chat-room' or something similar. Regardless of what I typed, I did indeed find myself in an (empty, blank screen) ecstasy chat room. I had never been in a chat room in my life. Again, to this day I don't know what site it was, I never returned there.

Anyway, what do you do with a blank screen that says 'chat room'?

You type "Hello"

Immediately a reply came back "Hello"

Wtf? Within seconds I found myself discussing the merits of MDMA online with a complete stranger. We talked for about 30 mins. We found we shared common ground and common beliefs. At the end he asked for my email, which I freely gave him.

16 years later that person is one of my very best friends who I have met on numerous occasions. He's from Singapore. He was in Singapore when chatting to me (so that takes in a hell of a time difference too). We've shared many drug nights together. I first met him for real in 2000 when he came to my house. He now lives in Taiwan, but still comes to visit regularly. I've emailed him about 1000 times more than I've emailed anyone else.

In 1998 he had just had his first E experience, hence why he was in the chat room. I still do not know why I was there, how I got there, or where 'there' was. I don't think it was BL's forerunner, MDMA clearing house, as I don't think that had a chat room facility. He also has no idea what the www. was.

But 16 years later we are best friends and have brought so much into each others lives. Crystal meth amongst them.

I don't know why I leapt out of bed that morning to do something I had never done before. I know the result is mind-blowing. Hiya Brad if you're reading.

Oh. He is responsible for bringing me to BL, via pillreports. I got him to join BL a few years ago but living in SE Asia, not a lot applies to him. Plus you lot scare the fuck out of him. ;)

^ Is it just me or is the PM function not working? (database errors no matter which way I try to click)

anyway, check your email you

Never been big on the meetup thing. Never done online dating either. Which is a relief for everybody involved.

A few years back I found a site which allowed me to contact a number of girls whom I would pay to wear a pair of combat boots for anything from a week to several months, with the final fee being determined by the length of time involved. It was a pretty big earner for those involved; as you can imagine, it takes a lot of work for them to break in those boots and get them all scuffed up and lived-in, which is how I liked them.

There was a lot of sustained contact involved in this, as you might imagine, especially with the girls who would agree to thoroughly abuse a pair. Occasionally they'd suggest bringing body fluids into the equation (for a charge), but for the most part they were just students looking for an easy buck that didn't involve actual prostitution.

So over the few months it'd take for them to stink up a pair of S95s, I would get to know some of the girls and occsionally we'd have something in common. When it came time for them to send me the boots, sometimes it'd be easier to meet up. Just a coffee, nothing more; usually friendly but rarely leading anywhere. Except on two occasions; one was a six-month fling with somebody who shall remain nameless. The other girl (Sarah) has become a good friend and occasional drinking buddy of mine - hi Sarah! <3

Of course, most people on the internet are fucking weirdos who should be given a wide berth.

This sounds like the strangest thing to me...maybe I am getting old!

Strange? Maybe.

To this day I still have sixteen pairs of used army boots lying around my house, none of which are in my size.

So yeah, you're probably right. :D

Met my girlfriend on a music forum I use. Been together nearly two years now.

Also load of foreign friends through the same website, 5 are close mates, although after couple of years in UK they went back home and about 10-15 really sound folk.

I've met 3 folk off here.

One by chance. Just a cunt (swedger) shouting "CRACKHEAD?" at me in the middle of a club.

One (Mendo) I met on a street corner somewhere in London lol, possibly Bow but my memory is hazy. We were going to the same ill-fated festival.

And the one that stays round my way (kappa) but doesn't really post here anymore, I still see occasionally, although it's been a while. Was meant to meet up with him and another rarely seen BLer between Xmas and New Year but I'm pretty shit when it comes to doing specific things at specific times so it never happened.

I've never met any other internet cunts. I haven't really fucked about with any forums other than this and one heavy local one (where a meet-up wouldn't really be that coz everycunt was going to the same clubs, parties etc anyway)

Some really wonderful stories in here, those kind of serendipitous moments that let me believe in the world a little more.

That is really awesome!! It is rare (for some of us) to meet and befriend people like that, that we just really click with and get each other. Hang onto those friendships as throughout life you will find that real, true, legit friend are few and far between. I have tons of acquaintances but few really true loyal friends.

I plan on it. He now lives even farther away but it's nice to know I have someone I can talk to.
Another part of my life on which LSD had a profound influence.

As for the girl we stayed in touch. In fact 12 years later and we share an apartment. I see her naked every morning, spoon every night and leave each other love notes from time to time. You never know who you'll meet online it seems…..

That's a great story. Which reminds me, somehow I didn't think of it, I met my gf/so online as well. I knew who she was and had met her once or twice but we'd never really talked. Through an interesting twist of fate we ending up meeting through a fb post and it was pretty much love from there... and that was almost 2 years ago.

On here I have met Dan DS, Evad, and Michael oh and Croboxide (sp)

Its really sad that two of them have died. :|

dont feel bad, id also cry if forced to listen to four pavement tracks one after the other

and that folks, is my signal to disappear to bed. and triple lock the doors :sus:

=D

I HOPE... this is a made up trolling story... it is, right?

^ Says the guy who fancies Vanessa Feltz, which is 10 times more shocking/unbelieveable than Sam's tale

There's a difference between a mini celeb-crush from afar and being a dirty perv who pays students for their shoes and bodily fluids.

Phwoaar! What a woman...

well, if he insists on associating with mild and meek characters such as yourself.. ;)

Fair point well made. I have to admit I scare the fuck out of him too at times. Im ashamed to say. He's just been brought up in a different culture. Western Europe is a lot scarier/more intimidating than SE Asia.

Never met anybody from the internet and never will, people can make themselves look completely different online, you have no way to assess their true nature properly, I generally have a problem trusting others, there's no chance I'd be able to trust random strangers from a website.

This, from someone who claims to live on a moon of Jupiter's.

I've been meeting weirdies from the Internet since I was 15.. the first ones were some local Manics fans from the NME chatroom. And then some guys that I knew on CompuServe. And then a load of people from various forums and MUDs and newsgroups. I've been talking shite at Internet people for so long, I have few boundaries between Internet and "real life".. =D

I ended up getting dommed by a girl I met on the internet. Was fun.
Phwoar. (Why have I not done this?)
