I'm not sure whether any of you have seen this website, but it gives a pretty comprehensive view from both sides, including interviews with some of the biggest dealers in America (who have decided to rat)

and then i looked at the clock, and i had been reading that shit for 3 hours...
fuckin unreal find dude. very cool information, mostly just the fuckin fascinating story of the whole 60's-80's columbian cartel shit, and a little bit of thinking music stuff with regards to the drugs policy of the US. couple notable quotes from an interview with retired special agent of the DEA
You build a 12-foot wall around the United States, and the old joke goes, it will take the dope peddlers 60 seconds to realize that a 13-foot ladder gets over a 12-foot wall. And then what do you do? Build a 13-foot wall?
The issue is that significant and growing number of kids in this country feel they have to leave reality on a regular basis. Now to me it is not a hell of a lot different if they leave reality sniffing hairspray or using cocaine. It is the issue of 12-, 13- or 14-year-olds who feel that they have to leave reality that we are not addressing. Instead we addressed the chemical.
highly recomended for anyone with a spare afternoon on their hands....i shall now be up very late doing the homework i should have been doing

oh yeah, and i'm sooooo going to see blow again now i know all those dudes....
oh yeah, and for those that have seen blow, i now think the movie did a pretty accurate job, i always thought that most of the storyline was bullshit, just beased on jung's life, but reading that site, it was extremely accurate. altho i feel they portrayed jung as a far nicer man than what he comes across as in his interview, and alos how others spoke of him...

...got a place for watching that will paint pictures and colour lights...

rbb: That is the reason I stumbled upon this site. After seeing blow, I wanted to know how accurate the movie was, and it was pretty much on the ball.
You do realise, however, that (after reading the interviews) Jung was nothing compared with Lehder and the rest of the Medellin crew.
And yes, I spent about 5 hours on that site and have barely dealved into it.

yah...that is exactly what i ended up thinking horse. of the medellin cartel, jung was the only ones the americans could use as a proof that they were apparently winning the war on drugs. he was the american that they didn't have to extradite, so it was easy. they never had a chance of touching the extraditables, not so much because they didn't have any control fo what was going on down there, but because the governments were just as fucked up as the cartels. so i think that basically the american government built up this massive illusion of george jung as this massively powerful drug lord, even perhaps the right hand man toe escobar, when really he was a small tool needed by lehder and escobar to start their empire, but by building this illusion, then putting him in jail, i think the americans feel they can sleep a little safer, when really they have no fuckin idea...
now what is really interesting is the story of barry seal. a book or movie about him would be well interesting, but unfortunately he fucked up and got gunned down, so i doubt there is.
one intersting thing that came up in a few interviews though was the prediction that the coke market in the US was levelling off, they had reached saturation point, and the cell unit organisation left over from the cartels are no longer as profitable. so the popular thought is that thee people will move into heroin, america will have a heroin crises, and once again some massive cartels will rise to power in south america. i think they overlooked the fact that poppies don't really grow down there, but hey, its an interesting thought...

. Haven't read much yet myself but it looks interesting.

I know this is a little off topic, but I hope everyone knows that the CIA have run drugs for many years as a method of getting funding for projects.
