Hello I am new to Bluelight posting and have been reading the forums for a long time as I've always found assistance from the knowledge of the users here.
Here's my story.... I was born with a rare disease, that has caused me pain and discomfort in my right leg my entire life (Blue Rubber Bleb Nevus Syndrome). As a child I had multiple surgeries to remove malformations on my leg and they always grew back. In 2011 I started having constant chronic headaches. Which later after meeting with the Cleveland Clinic neurologists we found it was a malformation. In 2012 I started having non partial seizures caused by bleeding from the malformation and was diagnosed as epileptic. On February 17th 2015 I had to have brain surgery to remove the malformation causing my epilepsy. Prior to the surgery I was taking a prescription for 130 10mg Vicodin a month with other meds for the head pain I was still having along with chronic pain in my right leg. After surgery I was prescribed a number of medications, including 5mg Valium with the instructions 'take 1 tablet every six hours OR AS NEEDED.' 3 days after my initial surgery I needed a spinal tap due to swelling in my brain. Nothing was found, but still to this day I'm in chronic pain at the injection site that shoots throughout my back and into my neck. Up until about a month ago I have been living with this pain because the doctors I was seeing prior to brain surgery would no longer prescribe me pain meds bc my epilepsy was gone. They suggested I see a pain management doctor. Since then I have seen 2 Cleveland Clinic pain management doctors who said they would not prescribe me any pain meds because they cause head aches. Not taking into consideration the chronic back pain and leg pain I struggle to live with daily. After seeing them I took things into my own hands and made an appointment with an acupuncturist. Who prescribed me a Herbal Analgesic. I then ordered an acupuncture mat off Amazon and starting doing it myself at home. Since then I've been taking the meds she prescribed me AS NEEDED, along with alot of ibuprofen, Tylenol, aspirin, anything to help take the edge off. So I started seeing a pain management doctor last week that put me on Vicodin 5mg 3 times a day which did nothing, so I made another appointment that was today. During the appointment he talked about putting me on Percocet and Lydocaine Patches he then had me come in for a drug test in another room. The Valium that was prescribed to me by the surgeon that had the instructions 'OR AS NEEDED' was found in my system. Along with morphine and an anti depressant, which after some research I found both of those to be in a valium. Obviously I was taking it as needed considering the fact it was prescribed to me 8 months ago with no refills and I still had some left. Also found in my drug screening was a very low amount of THC, which I've come across some things online that say the Herbal Analgesic along with other otc meds like ibuprofen and naproxin, can create a false positive for THC. So the pain management doctor has discharged me as a patient because I didn't inform him I take either of those medications. At my first appointment his nurse asked me "what medications do you take DAILY?" Since I do not take the Valium or the Herbal Analgesic DAILY I did not inform the nurse, nor the doctor. Now I am out of a doctor, out of my meds and he told me he was reporting me so all future doctors would know I abuse medication. So long story here but what should I do?
