Insuffulation (snorting) damage mega merged thread

Nasal Blockage from snorting shit.. any good remedies for this painful blockage?

Hey everyone,

Very often when im insuffulating k,coke, whatever my nose will block up completely on one side if not both.....it extremely uncofortable and blowing my nose does nothing, neither do nasal sprays or even dripping water up there...it just keeps blocking up seconds laterr.....someone help!!!!

Neti pots ftw!

I have been recommending this a lot on here so I figured I would put it in a thread instead...

If your preferred ROA is insufflation, please invest in a neti pot. They work incredibly well for clearing and cleaning your sinuses. If you have other suggestions for clearing sinuses feel free to add here, I just wanted to share mine to a broader audience.

-Always use saline solution or make your own using distilled water
-Warm water is more comfortable
-Breathe slowly and steadily through your mouth to keep the solution from draining down your throat
-never use unfiltered water without boiling first, as there have been deaths attributed to this mistake

<I couldn't find a thread about this but feel free to move or merge if there are>

Not for healthy living haha! Sorry guys... Hopefully it gets moved where it goes

Definitely for HL!!! As you can see, we even have an insuffulation thread devoted to remedies just of this nature. ;)

I'm a bit worried about my nose. Or, more specific, my right nostril. I went through ca. 5g of ethylphenidate in ~3 weeks and propably 70-80% of that went in my nose. I really tried to prevent serious damage by clearing my nose with saline solution, using sea water nasal-spray (and sometimes the one with sea water + dexpanthenol) to keep it from drying out etc etc. So basically all you can do in terms of prevention when you're snorting stuff like this.

This seemed to help at least a little bit as i didn't have a nose bleed once or anything like that. But what worries me (and what also caused me to stop snorting) is that i have something in my right nostril, and i'm pretty sure that it's not been there before and i'm also pretty sure that it's not supposed to be there. It's almost like a little tumor and it's sitting quite deep inside the nostril, where the nose (or the "face-part" of the nose) ends. I can feel it with my little finger or touch it with a q-tip, but i can't see it because it's too deep inside. It hurts a little bit and feels strange when touched. It's pretty hard and i can't move it and i'm sure it isn't just mucus or something like that, it feels more like tissue, like a part of my body. Sometimes when i blow my nose there seems to be pressure on it and the whole thing also has some effect on my ear on that side, because the pressure is also felt there. I stopped snorting since this had become a problem and my nose is recovering from all the damage, but this thing doesn't seem to go away at all.

So, i know i should see and doctor etc but it takes a while until you get an appointment with a ENT-doctor and i thought maybe someone experienced something like this or has an idea what this might be. My best guesses would be:

- the vasoconstrictive effects of the drug caused this and it's some kind of problem where the blood couldn't circulate properly and now there's this thing, maybe cut off from the blood stream or something like that (and slowly dying?)
- it might have something to do with the sinuses (swelling etc)

If anyone has some input on this it would be great. Maybe i'm thinking too much about it and should just wait until it comes out (or not). But i never experienced anything like this before from snorting anything, so i thought maybe someone else did.

Somberlain,
You mentioned a feeling of pressure and that this nodule also seems to involve your nose. It sounds like it could be an abscess. If so, you should very seriously consider seeing a doctor. If it turns out to be an abscess, it could burst and the infected material could circulate, becoming systemic-at the very least, making you extremely ill, worst case scenario, this type of infection can be deadly. I don't want to be an alarmist, but I've had a couple of these things myself over the years, and nearly died from one of them. So, I felt I should say something. Oh, and abscesses can occur for any reason, so you probably won't have to worry about mentioning the snorting (and I doubt you'll be asked).

Thanks for your reply and sorry i didn't give an update sooner. I just forgot about it after i read your post.

The "thing" in my nose has changed quite a bit in the last few days. Your theory made perfect sense and i decided to see a doctor yesterday, but i slept too long and when i arrived there it was too late. :|
So yeah, i may have to wait until monday, but i got a feeling it's starting to get better. "The thing" has gotten smaller in the last 2 days and i'm pretty sure now that it isn't an abscess (had a few in the past myself). That's mainly because the remaining part is just rock solid, doesn't really feel like tissue anymore the pressure is nearly gone. Actually, what is left just feels like a piece of bone. I don't know if it's possible, but i could imagine that i just have a small piece of bone there (a kind of "deformation" of the normal bone) that i never noticed before. And when i started using this nostril for snorting (i always used the other one because that works better for me, but switched because of the damage from ethyphenidate), much of the bad stuff may have been "caught" by the thing there because it's just in the right spot to catch a good portion of powder etc that goes through there. This may have caused an infection, swelling etc right there. I don't know, maybe this theory is far fetched. But as i have to wait until next week anyway (unless it's getting worse) it's some peace of mind. And if i'm wrong i have to go to the doctor on monday anyway.

I'm glad to hear that the nodule has gotten smaller. Maybe it is something else. Could've been temporarily inflamed from your recent, um, activities. Maybe it has drained? Sometimes these things do resolve themselves on their own-spontaneously burst, etc. But going to get it checked out is always in your best interests. You can't go wrong by doing the right thing :D. Anyway, let us know how it turns out.

Thanks Permanent Jones, I agree - you should definitely get your nose checked out, Somberlain. Unfortunately we are limited in terms of how much we can help over the internet. It's always a good idea to get a professional opinion from someone who is trained, has your medical history available, and can physically perform tests on you. :)
