Ok so I would consider myself a fairly experienced user when it comes to putting drugs up ones nose.

had a coke habit for a number of years.. kicked that and now I am no stranger to snorting pills.

in all my years I cant say I have ever used a mirror... I just snort off whatever clean and flat surface I have available....

is there some magical amazing reason why people use a mirror?? I dont get it and maybe this is a dumb question but hopefully someone can shed some light on this for me lol

i used one once. it was kinda cool; if i looked right i could see the amp going up the bill.

I prefer glass for cutting up lines. but then I put those lines in a spoon hehe..

I think the point of a mirror is it's flat, and relatively clean compared to say... the back of a toilet.

i believe it's because it is glass (IMO best surface to work on) and available.. you can go to a lot of stores and have a choice of 50 different mirrors, a plain piece of glass would work to but where would you buy a little piece of glass? and have it not be sharp on the ends so you don't cut yourself?

EDIT: i have like 5 mirrors just sitting around in my bathrooms that i could easily use.. but i dont need it, the only thing i snort is suboxone and i do it off the coffee table(made of glass) or the marble sink in my bathroom if certain people are around. BTW marble counter works good also (if you can see your drug/product/ whatever on it. and in jail the toilet seat is best.. lol jk of course in jail its your desk you snort off with a rolled up piece yellow kindergarten paper. or depends which way you swing you could snort off your celly =D

I can see those reasons making it beneficial

all I am saying tho Is my normal snorting spot, is the desk in my office

it is a wooden black pained surface and I use a credit card to shop and line my shit... works fine, well enough that I dont see myself being desperate for a glass surface.

just wonderin what I was missing out on
thanks for the responses guys

it definitely can get irritational after snorting all night. my advice is do an acetone wash on your gear to clean your product up and eliminating cuts.

i've never found much "brilliance" from snorting off a mirror, it seems to be prevailant in movies and people following suit. as long as it's not a dirty toilet i'm racking off and somewhere clean in my own home, such as a plate then i've no worries.

i don't really see what's so amazing about using a mirror. they're mostly just stigmatized throughout movies and such. the few times i DID use a mirror, the drugs i was cutting up reflected themselves and it looked like i had more than i had. i kept trying to scrape up nonexistant crumbs. i'd much rather use a flat black surface.

A mirror or a CD jewel-case or whatever, it really doesn't matter - as long as it's flat, not porous or uneven in any way, and allows moisture on the surface to be seen easily.

ive always used CD cases the few times ive snorted dexedrine. you gotta be careful with the razor tho, cause you can cut off plastic shavings (off of a CD case) if youre not careful.

it seems to be a drug propaganda thing... but in all reality, it's the smoothest surface for cutting up your shit and it's nice for cutting lines cause it's perfectly smooth and hard.

but my granite countertop works just fine for me.

i use a hoseclamp to bust up my oxy, so i pretty mnuch use any flat surface and just grate away over top of it... but ya, like a lot of other people said, i believe its used a lot because its the most readily available "glass surface" you can find... its not because its a mirror and theres somethin special about it...its just the easiest flat, glass surface you can find

but my personal favourite thing to hit lines on is a glass table...just seems so right :D

The mirror is magic it makes twice as much appear.

The best one I've found is a compact mirror cause of that raised lip. break something up one time and watch it fly across the room and you"ll agree with me.

Plus it doesn't matter if you're a chick or a guy, i always leave one in my glove box. If anyone asks about some chick you know left it in there one day when you gave her a ride.

Chicks definitely have the advantage over us though, they can keep one in their pocket or their purse and no one even looks at them funny. But that's what the back of my phone is for.

There are several reason that i can think of:

1. Habitual users seem to have a basic sort of routine that they become obsessed with when it comes to there using of there DOC. Alot of the pill heads i know love to use mirrors because they can use a clear straw (Arby's) and watch every aspect of using happen.

2. Availability, like some one said before. Mirrors are found everywhere. Although small pieces of glass from photograph frames are my choice.

3. Other pieces of glass are more suspicious, than the small mirror that you can say that you use for hair or what ever.

4. It's easy to spot the drug, if you are using in small groups, or if you tend to spill powed around on where you use.

nothing sticks to it.

This, and...

It's easier to clean,
It's easier to see when it's not clean,
It's easier to scrape up what's left on the mirror when you're out and you just want "that little bit" to keep you going/feeling OK,
You get to watch yourself blow a line, which is more fun I guess, lol.

If I used a textbook which had a clear plastic coating on the outside, scraping hard enough with a razor would peel it off, and then you would have plastic scrapings in with your powder.

I put a lot of thought into that, lol, but it just seemed natural to use a mirror.

I always used a mirror to snort things (with few exceptions). When I was homeless I would carry the mirror around with me into places (like apartments without locks on the door).

Since Ive moved though all Ive used is a hand mirror. Its great because its portable, the perfect size, and the perfect surface. I can leave things on it and just put it in my dresser so its not viewable. But yea, it seems like a mirror or glass surface is what is thought of first.
