Insomniacs help!

never tried/heard of Quetipine, but i have tried Benadryl (diphenhydramine?) in doses of 50mg, 100mg, and even 200mg with no effects whatsoever.

I have bad insomnia so for the past 6 months I have been using this combo to get to sleep: I take anywhere from 10-30mgs of Ambien 1 or 2 hours before I plan on falling asleep. Over the next hour or so I smoke around 2 bowls of strong weed (I like Indica better that Sativa because it has a more sedating effect). I lay in my bed with the light out trip out until i pass out. I don't seem to have any tolerance to Ambien and 10-15mgs can fuck me up. Weed in general helps me sleep, if you don't smoke weed then starting just to help you sleep probably isn't a good idea but if you do smoke weed then i suggest smoking a bowl before bed to help you sleep. Its the best sleep aid I've ever used.

been using marijuana daily and yes i use it before bed as well. it seems nothing phases me! fuck. i have an appt. with a psychiatrist next week thankfully, so i hope i can get something out of that.

it seems as if benzos are the only thing that helps effectively with the least amount of side effects/hangover...so i was looking into the hypnotics such as triazolam. how would you guys go about asking your psych. to put you on something such as halcion?

I've posted this in a few other threads, so maybe you've read this already. But I'm on doxepin and it's working brilliantly for me. Very easy to get a script for this too, no questions asked:

Word to the wise: this shit can seriously increase the nod from weaker opiates and the drug itself can be quite pleasurable if taken with other drugs. Wiki doesn't lie (well, sometimes it does, but I can vouch for the abuse potential of this drug). Over-all, I like it.

cymbaltra works great for rls and help with my sleep. requip is also for rls. talk 2 your doc about it. try a couple tylanol pms

I have terrible insomnia that isnt helped by any of the common medications (lunesta, ambien, seroquel, remeron) even benzos dont help that much because i metabolize them very quickly and am only kept asleep for a few hours.
Although promethazine helps me sleep somewhat and works really well when combined with a opiate before bed time.

i think i'll go with the hypnotic benzos and see what my psyc. says about them and if they'll actually prescribe them...

i tend to walk a lot on somedays and do a few exercises/stretches, but at the end of the day i still won't fall asleep. as of the past couple of nights i have been taking ambien and it's effective, but not immediately.

last night i had taken 15mg of ambien and fell into a sleep, but was awakened with a "jolt" to my body. it was very weird and my heart appeared to be beating fast afterwards.

well i go to the psyc. on thursday and plan on asking about midozolam, triazolam, and temezapam for effective sleep pills. i also have mild anxiety/restlessness throughout the day which produces a very uneasy feeling throughout my body...should i ask for a long acting anxiolotic benzo for that, and a hypnotic benzo for night? or should i just stick to the sleeping problem?

Try lowering the seroquel dose. I noticed the higher the dose, the harder it was to get to sleep. It kicked the RLS through the roof. Try 20 - 40 mgs. and it'll be WAY easier to fall asleep.

You could try some diphenhydramine. I pretty much have to take it (100mg) any night in which i want to fall asleep...not very healthy but its kinda interesting...i miss good ol fashioned sleep though...:(

Same here. To the OP, I don't know how you get seroquel and that stuff, but Benadryl might be a lot cheaper for you.

I've never slept better than when I took a Lunesta, I need to get prescribed.

Also melatonin is awesome and OTC, you chew a little pill like it's chewing tobacco or something, it's actually kind of cool. Helps you get right to sleep, especially if you're mostly sober.

Diphenhydramine works sometimes, but if you are already on certain benzo's, opiates or other drugs, it just pretty much stops working in my opinion. When I can't sleep, I will try taking melatonin and diphenhydramine. Both of these really don't work for me anymore, and I end up taking more in the middle of the night, and then it is too much to work.

Sorry for rambling. I guess what I am saying is that tell your doc what works and what doesn't, and hopefully he is understanding and willing to work with you to find restful nights.

for the seroquel i initially ingested 50mg, then proceeded to take more when i wasn't sleeping. made me restless as fuck, horrible night! melatonin and diphenhydramine both do not work effectively, as well as valerian root.

i think i'll ask my doctor about restoril. from all the reading i have been doing it seems like this might be effective, as benzos have been the only thing to actually work. i still have yet to try this rozerem shit though, but from what i have read it is shitty and not very efficient...

does anyone know whether there are any interactions with taking the rozerem in conjunction with ambien, benzos, or opiates? any harmful interaction with combining the rozerem w/ something else?

i think i'll try the rozerem out, but if it fails and i'm awake at 2am, then eating ambien will have to do. i need my fucking sleeeeeep!
