I think its a stupid rule. I also think Insomniac is only saying its a "fire hazard issue" because they don't want to gain the amount of hate Hard got when they were straight about not allowing kandi or lights so people would think of their events more as concerts then raves.
It not like people are bothering any one etc etc. As a glover, I NEVER go up to people and offer. I'll give them to my friends and people will come up to me and ask, only then will i do it. I also make sure to be courteous and keep out of crowded areas where people are trying to walk through etc etc. And although I am one case, I've never met anyone that runs up to people and starts waving lights in people's faces who don't want a show or whatever.
Like many have argued, it is a cool way of expression. Try the once and i guarantee you'll want to play with again...and again.....and .....again.

i think this is a great rule. There is a few underground crews in LA I used to follow that stood strongly by this rule. always the best parties to be at. Its disgusting and annoying to constantly be tripping over kids rolled out on the floor giving eachother lightshows... I understand as a poi spinner that this is not always the case. However, more often than not it is, and you don't need glowsticks to enjoy music.

the big rave promoter here has a ban on lights but they dont really enforce it all that much

^ Hell yes they will take them. That's why they're banned :\

I don't live in an area where Insomniac promotes events, or do I hardly ever attend raves or massive electronic dance events but I also think this is a fantastic rule. The few massives I have attended I found myself questioning why someone would pay $60+ for an event ticket, only to lie on the floor in a pile of people staring at lights.

I understand that on MDMA these activities are pleasurable, but it defeats the point of going to a live event IMO. Stay home and cuddle on your living room floor with the stereo on and save yourself some money.

Finger lights attract negative, drug related attention, and the people sitting on the dance floor and piled up in hallways just make an event that much more obnoxious.

hmmm....personally think there should be some room in the poll for inbetween, but if i had to pick, im going to say bad idea. lights can be used creatively, and a blanket ban like this only creates bad publicity

Cuddle puddle?

Goto any london dubstep rave and you are more likely to get stabbed than cuddled. Your scene does seem a bit .... soft?

or yours is a bit hard....trust me, ill go for watching a bunch of etards lying on the floor over having to watch my back instead of having fun any fucking day of the week....mostly why i only to NM outdoors way out past where all the cholos around here want to take their lowriders

Stupid rule. Just because some of us have grown out of it doesn't mean it's not a magical experience for someone else. All of this "just trying to hide the drug use" talk has me worried that we forgot where we came from, and how we used to feel about freedom in general. The stated reasons for removing cuddle puddles and light shows are total bullshit, of course, we all know it's really an attempt to make massives more mainstream and marketable to people who think drug users are losers. We are losers if we play along with this "hide the drugs" mentality and let a bunch of closed minded douches take over whatever "the scene" is supposed to be now.
