Insights on salvia? Would love your opinions! Someone wants me at a carnival?

I posted this in the trip reports section as my first post, but I think it might be a little philosophical and lightweight for those dudes. They are on a different level. (I don't want that to sound demeaning)

I'm very curious to hear some interpretations of my last several trips on Salvia.

After delving pretty deep into Mary Jane and clearing my mind, and figuring out who I was, I decided to take a step into the world of salvia. I've tripped about 4 or 5 times now and each time I've used a little bit more than the last time. Starting with .06g and up to .15g of 5x.

While every experience has been different, there are some recurring themes and feelings... specifically feelings of being a child, and being in some kind of carnival or circus.

There is this strong fluxing presence that feels like a carnival ride.

The feeling of this carnival and ride is manifested by some odd emotions and feelings that come over me, and the visual (not even sure if they were open or closed eye) of repeating images of whats around me. Quite a bit like a spinning fractal art image. It's all very smooth and it's happening before I really realize it.

My last trip left me almost a little sad. I felt the presence of a ride being right by the left of head, and I was being rushed to get on it by someone. Like a "come on! come on! lets go!"

I couldn't "get on" the ride though.

This is hardly specific enough I'm sure, but I feel as if some presence is running a carnival and they want me to get on a ride.

Can anyone shed a little light or relate an experience? I've interpreted the ride both ways, that reality is the ride, and I don't want to get off. Or that Salvia is the ride, and I can't seem to get on. Either way, this comical, tricky, fun, carnival sensation truly fascinates me.

I'd like to note that my emphasis on the carnival feel is in no way meant to devalue all the aspects of my salvia trips. Every single portion of them has been amazing. It's the feeling of another consciousness with motives and intents that starts really peaking my interest though.

I can't interpret your psychedelic experiences for you, as neat as they are to hear and to speculate about, they apply to you and your mind only and no one knows your mind better than you.
I find that salvia is near uninterpretable in any meaningful sense, I find it to just be a strange and wacky ride to the far reaches of my imagination, and when you're back it seems like nothing you experienced in that time made any sense whatsoever
It makes me wonder why ancient tribes used to use salvia for spiritual experiences, it seems to be one of the least spiritual psychedelics out there.

Another question I like to pose about salvia, is how many people get the being trapped under paged in a book feeling, what about ancient tribes who had no written records of anything nor have ever seen a book?
Mechanical conveyors seem to be very common too, but what would be common experiences to ancient people who had never seen nor even conceived of these things?

Certainly it effects everyone different, but from reports I've read, the experiences are all somewhat similar with everyone.

Even you mention the conveyor belts, machines, etc.... this kind of proves in a way that there is something up with this substance. Where as it appears every other drug can have completely UNIQUE insights, salvia seems to tug on everyones shared strings so to speak.

The presence of a machine is one of the most common reports I've read, and I have been interpreting since my very first salvia trip this machine to be a ride.

To answer your posed questions, it's a VERY good point you raise. Indigenous cultures typically would be consuming these substances under such radically different scenarios.

I've read about fasts and consumption of certain foods for days at a time to prep for this sacred ritual.

Perhaps if we learned more about their practices, and stopped doing these substances in the safety of our living rooms under rushed (extract in a bong) circumstances, our shared experience might closer resemble that of the indigenous people.

That is very likely.
As well they would have used the leaf sublingually, which I believe could be more spiritually inviting.
Think of smoking DMT vs taking it orally, most people have more profound, albeit less intense, experiences through the oral ROA

Radius, have you tried other psychedelics? I hated salvia to be honest. It makes me feel weird and not particularly enlightened, but that's just me.

P.S. have any of you guys seen "lady salvia"? Me and a friend of mine both have seen the features of this one woman, and I read about it on the web, seems to be a reoccurring vision for a lot of people.

I have not tried others yet, but I fully plan to as soon as I can find some reputable people. I find salvia to fascinating and when I mixed it with Mary Jane it was thrilling.

I don't believe I've gone near as far as possible with salvia, and while I have not met Lady Salvia, I have felt the presence of a female pulling at me to come to the other world.

While I'm not very experienced, I have a feeling that salvia might be something that has to be taken very slowly with gradual increasing dosages. I've gone from .06, .08, .11, .15 and each time seems to make sense because of the last trip.

Everyone is right, it's wacky, but I feel like if you take it slow you can process it a little better, takes some restraint and patience though... because it's a thrill.

First time I tried Salvia was in August 2006, and 2-3 times until Sept/06 and I stopped until October 2012. Ran out of weed and wasn't getting my next delivery for a few days so I picked up some Salvia (10x?) from a head shop. First time smoking it in a good bong (Phx) with a torch lighter. I took too much. Instantly (and I do not like this sort of rocket ride upwards) there was 'nothing', and then I was crawling on the ground trying to escape from giant undulating metal pistons that were hammering up and down repeatedly, all the while being aware of a audio sine wave that varied in pitch/frequency as it locked in on me (the target). I was crawling in the mud trying to escape from these pounding metal fists....up and towards the sky. eventually I broke through a layer of clouds and found fresh air. This was when I 'woke' up. I had escaped Kronos (an old sci fi movie from the 50's....check it out on IMDB). I had crawled along my basement floor and was working my way upstairs. The dogs thought it was great fun (look, Tom is putting out gallons of sweat, let's lick him to death).

I don't find it recreational or therapeutic, but that's me. Others may get worlds from this substance and I salute them.

Tom

I have found that Salvia, if used with caution and optimism, with a goal in mind prior to use can be very therapeutic and opening. While I can't speculate as to what your specific trip may be about, I would suggest meditating on it outside of the influence and then maybe taking some time when you are free of mind and stress to sit down in nature with her and have a shot at it again. I have always found this drug to be of most value in a controlled setting in my house with dim lights or out in nature. It has helped me greatly with my cocaine addiction and other issues I have had in the past. My girlfriend had an extremely deep trip that I sat just a few weeks ago and I still am not sure what she saw but she said she felt the immensity of time and saw an infinite number of different versions of herself.

In summation I find Salvia is very useful but also very powerful. As with most drugs that affect the mind in this certain way, set and setting are key, if you have any questions you want answered you should go in with an open mind and the question on your tongue.

Radius, if you get that much from Salvia, I salute you, but that DEFINITELY means that you should try other psychedelics because if salvia is so meaningful and mystical for you then lord knows what a couple grams of shrooms out in the forest will do to you ;)

I did Salvia back in the 90's. Back then it was considered a novelty like morning glory seeds. Most who tried it got nothing. I packed an old fashion tobacco pipe and smoked hard until a couldn't move. Got the pins and needle feeling and having no reliable reliable (only obscure scientific journals) scared me because it was very powerful. But it was over quickly. That's the key to salvia, tell yourself this only lasts 30 minutes tops, no need to mess with extracts. Once I knew it was a short but powerful trip my best trip was meet the cat from alice and wonderland. Such a shame this sacrament was purified, abused and made illegal.

Salvia makes me feel itchy and trapped. Most of the trip kinda reminds me of an odd feeling black out. But i guess to each his own.

I suggest smoking DMT if u want a short lived, intense trip. Its much trippier and tons more enlightening.

Salvia i have only smoked a couple times, honestly because an ex girlfriend bought it for us because she happened to walk into a record store that was selling Purple Sticky Brand ( the salvia wasnt purple its just the brand name) i believe 20x Salvia ( this was years and years ago and i haven't smoked it since ) it came in a little weird purple plastic disk, and My brother, His Girlfriend at the time and My Ex And Myself at the time all decided to smoke it, First Hit i put an ok amount in and with a torch lighter knowing it needed that heat to unlock it... thinking it wasnt going to be anything you know too crazy, it SLAMMED all of us into weird shit other than my ex, My brothers EX Swore my brothers guitar was playing itself, and was SCREAMING and Curled up in a ball she was scared shitless, My brother said " it was cool " that was it when i asked further i still cant get anything else out of him, My ex smoked it and was dead silent for about an hour after then talked about it, she got this really insightful deep trip and she claimed she talked to what you are calling lady Salvia, I smoked it, and it kinda reminded me of smoked DMT kinda the way it Comes on and you're out there, but other than that i dont see much of a similarity to DMT. DMT does for me on a i don't know how to say it other than Spirtitual plane i've saw and communicated with Entities on DMT and have saw and felt AMAZING things i wish more people tried or could get their hands on DMT because they'd see it isnt a drug imo its something else, but i never got anything like my ex did from Salvia it wasnt all bad but it wasnt what i was hoping for i guess since i thought itd be similar to DMT for some reason it kinda was a let down for me. I've smoked DMT,IV'd DMT, And Plan on Taking it Orally, but i WISH i got the effect my ex got and the effect the one poster stated having from salvia that amazing enlightening, spiritual feel, i only get that from DMT not Salvia sadly. For me salvia it throws me into a crazy place. It wasn't positive for me, it was very negative, it actually got really scary had feel like bound or Trapped and forced to see somethings i dont want too it had me not right for a couple days it had me really depressed and unhappy with myself it showed me things about myself at the time i didnt realise, maybe it was too strong of an amount for a first time or setting or something, Another time it was positive so i cant hate on it completely, but outa 5 times 3 were negative. Maybe i should give it another try at a lower dose but it seems all places sell are like 20x or higher whenever i see it. Purple Sticky Brand definitely works well though, I bought their Kratom once before when i was recreationally doing drugs before i had a big opioid opiate tolerance and it had me nodding. So i guess if someone wants to know for sure what they have and trust me, Purple Sticky Brand is truthfully selling what they claim. I heard of alot of companys selling stuff as salvia and it wasnt...

To J_Has_L , I agree with you on that one. DMT kicks the shit outa Saliva IMO, but it seems some people are getting a good enlightening experience from Salvia WAIT UNTIL they experience DMT haha.

OP my experiences are almost exactly like yours.. I distinctly remember being at a carnival of some kind on several trips, but more like outside of the tent. In the same trips I would see a beach almost with some kind of dock.. not sailing boats though, more like spaceships. I can never seem to get further than standing on the outside looking in though, but that was all from the same batch and it was very old by the time I got it. Not to mention I was much younger, much less versed in psychedelics

it is really weird though, a lot of people seem to share these experiences.
