I think I'll take the good Doc's word on this one.

What people see as shards of glass would more than likely be shards of MDMA or meth crystal depending on the pills. I've seen what looked like glass in a pill before but when it was crushed between my fingers it became obvious it wasn't glass.
 
that would actually more realistic yeah..... i have just been told of a lot of people that there is glass in drugs but i think ill take ur work Fry-d- :)

Anyway, this brown pill definately had something apart from ice or mdma crystal...kinda of like glitter, but it wasn't breakble..nor did it melt?

It was absolutely shit too, tasted like bacon?
 
"Glass in pills"

There was a huge scare/rumour a few years back in Perth - that a type of ecstacy pill called a "white hammer" (which were a very decent dose and hit like their name suggested) contained fragments of glass. And yes, the rumour was that glass in the pills would put tiny cuts in your stomach lining and thus make the active constituents be absorbed faster.
Which, from what i know of physiology, is a load of wank.

And, more to the point, this "information" did not discourage any person i know of from taking said pills.



I do hope that the Inpress article referred to is taking the piss and not from some misinformed/sensationalist "journalist".

First post but long time reader.

Just thought I'd share a bit of a horror story regarding glassy pills. About 2-3 yrs ago when the large Green/red omega's were floating around, I picked up a bag of Green ones.

First one I picked out and split had a rather large looking clear crystal poking out of the split edge. Yahoo, I thought, I got myself some nice crystal. When I picked it out with my finger, I noticed the pill went red - with my blood! And what do you know - the crystal was gone - deep inside my index finger!

After a dodgy half hour training my eyes to focus, I managed to pick it out with tweezers. definitely a razor sharp shard of glass my friends.....
I don't really believe anyone with an ounce of sense would adulterate pills with glass. A laboratory accident would be more plausible as a source of glass in the mix, don't you reckon.

crazy things have turned up all over the place. Like shards of metal in pies etc etc.

I don't see why its not possible for things to accidentally find their way into a pill. Having said that - wouldn't it be a waste of time and effort to deliberatly put glass in a pill?

If the point of putting the glass in the pill was to make the effects stronger and thus get a good name for the pill - wouldn't it be counter productive when ppl started dropping like flies from glass ingestion???

*note: i'm not familiar with the process of pressing a pill or how bad glass ingestion is for you - feel free to correct me*

Considering the amount of toxic shit we take into our bodies every day in the form of trans-fats, chemicals, pollution, and even cosmetics (the average woman swallows something like a kilo of lipstick a year) I doubt a miniscule bit of crushed glass is going to hurt (unless it's a huge sharp shard, which I doubt would survive the pill making process). Our stomachs are pretty hardy.

There's even a condition called 'pica' or something where people are compelled to eat dirt, glass, plastic, metal, weird shit like that. Even that's not of particular harm unless they swallow things that are sharp and perforate the bowel or stomach lining.

Crushed glass will not do much harm, nor will it affect the absorbtion of the drugs. It would just be digested like everything else we eat - everything from tiny fish bones to watermelon pips, to the accidental odd bug or the sticker from your apple.
 
I watched a guy, depressed because his girl had left him, eat a glass at a bar one night. He said it was one way he'd learned to take his mind off such troubles 8(

I visited him a week later... thankfully there were no reports of blood in the stool.
 
my brother and i had a conversation much like this one, he had just tried his first pill and didn't really enjoy it that much. He was trying the whole drugs are bad routine and said"you know they put glass in pills to cut your stomach, how can u do pills reguarly knowing this?" i asked him how he took his pill and he told me he had put it under his tongue... as do many peeps i know, so if this was true wouldn't you cut underneath your tongue? or inside your nose if you snort them? Common sense peoples!!!!
I have taken lots of pills many different ways and have never come accross bleeding from doing this (or glass in a crushed pill)
 
^seriously there would be far cheaper and better substances to cut pills with other than glass. I mean some glucose is gonna cost a shitload less than a sheet of glass.

Not to mention that a lot of people snort there pills and glass would not be hard to find.
 
Bent: Sorry no. Been a bit busy this week and haven't been able to follow up on this. I was expecting it to blow up in a big media story but it seems it hasn't. Give us a couple of days.
