I wrote this around July of this year...
The little patter of tiny feet
Shiny curls swing in the breeze
Her innocent eyes so filled with peace
A happy giggle, she looked so sweet
She never knew the reason why
Her sky turned black, she learned to cry
By the time she learned to walk
She also learned she shouldnt talk
Her little ears soon learned the moan
And realized who cant be alone
Hurry child, you must come quick
Its your job to heal the sick
In the shadows as he sits
Hold me, Love me, she insists
Little baby tell me why
Keep me safe, dont let me die
No more games, no more fun
Wave goodbye, because its done
Little child you must see
Its on you to set them free
Tiny girl keep up your dance
Dont move your head, dont take a glance
Pay no mind to those children there
Mommy's here, I need your care
Remember we wont let you go
So dont fall down, just dance slow
For yourself, youre left to care
Our sun will fade if you arent there
Pretty dresses now hide the fact
She's a tiny soldier who must combat
So many things she shouldnt know
So hurt and lost but couldnt show
Dont fail sweetie, cant fall behind
Protect us, give us peace of mind
Her wobbly knees try not to shake
Her weary heart tries not to break
She cannot let anyone see
She does not want what she must be
Little one fights back her sob
She must be strong for its her job
Though the worlds so hard and heavy
She knows they need it held so steady
They created her life, its theirs to own
She never knew it was written in stone
Stolen was her choice to make
So her laugh is loud, her smile fake
The little girl forbidden to feel
As she grew her pain was real
Forced to fight another's battle
A sinking ship which had no paddle
The little hands and shiny curls
All disappeared just like the girl
Alone and scared she laid at night
She never knew it wasnt right
Lost and torn between two souls
Would they ever know the toll
The price the child had to pay
To be the hero they made her play
