Misc Injection Site Pain

So, a couple days ago I got some syringes, they were 28 gauge or 33 guage, I can't quite remember, a small needle though, and all I had was my script of suboxone and I decided to shoot that. After looking up everything I needed to use, I drew up one full syringe and half of another one because they were only half of a cc a syringe, and I was starting to get sick because I hadn't taken any suboxone, so my hands were starting to shake, I hit the vein in the crick of my arm, and I found it was kind of hard to hold the needle in place so I could draw back blood, and it even came out and I put it back into the same spot, but I finished and I shot the second one into a vein right beside the last shot. Now I have very bad pain when I open up my arm, and when I apply any pressure at all on either of the veins, and there is some redness on the injection sites. And these veins have never been used before, this was only my second time ever doing it. I know its probably poor technique but I hope to find out if it needs medical attention or if it will heal with time. Thanks

if you've registered then slipped out of the vein, injecting when you've though you're in the same place there's a good chance you've missed the shot, ie - veered out of the vein on reinsertion. it will have absorbed subcutaneously if this is the case. the symptoms you describe fit that of a missed shot which fortunately for a lot turn into sterile abscesses and heal within a while. this isn't always the case though and infections

have the symptoms worsened through the 3 days? or stayed much the same?

The fact that it hurts very bad isn't a good sign. Is it swollen? Hot to the touch? I'm sure other members will chime in but I'd say it's possible you need medical attention. No one here can really tell your for sure one way or the other. If it hurts I'd be concerned. If it gets any worse at all I'd seek medical attention.

Not all that long ago a friend of mine got an abscess and I took him to the ER. Obviously not an experience you particularly want, but it wasn't bad. They took great care of him and were 100% professional. The only reason I say that is to say don't be scared if you need medical help.

yes, if in doubt contact medical help asap. suboxone is notorious for being one of the worse pills to be IVing as well, anecdotally. you preferably want to be micron filtering them when using for injection. 3 days after the fact isn't a place where we can tell you to immediately apply a hot pressure rap, use triple-antiobiotic cream it, etc.

to speed up the sublingual absorption you can add a few small drops of high proof liquor as well as slightly increasing the bio-availability of it to get you out of sickness with a safer route.

I did the injection today, I'm sorry I forgot that detail. No it isn't hot to the touch, and I mustve typed everything in a weird order because I'm pretty sure the needle came out before I drew blood back. And Leftwing, both injection sites are hurting, not just the one that the needle came out of.

sorry i read it as you must have injected 3 days ago by mention of getting the syringes then.

what i'd suggest it getting a warm cloth to wrap around the elbow area - this helps with initial swelling and absorption of the drug. apply it fairly liberally, 3 x 20min spells is what i'd usually do with misses. sometimes using a hot water tap/shower if i hadn't something available to wrap and apply pressure.

it's a possibility that when you've slipped in and out and back into the vein you've pierced the walls and some of the solution has leaked through, making it painful and a little sore to move.

keep an eye on your arm over the next day or two and if things do not improve see a doctor. read the link in my above post as well.

Some of the pain has gone away, and the redness has almost gone away. Its still a little swolen though, the first injection site has a little bit of a lump so I'm guessing I missed the shot like you said leftwing, thank you so much for the help!

make sure to keep that warm water water on it frequently, you'll be surprised how much it will help that lump go away. maybe take a warm/hot shower and just let the water run on the site for awhile too. before injecting next time, maybe try doing a practice shot with sterile water when you're not sick so that you at least have an idea for future situations. it can be frustrating when you're trying to learn with drugs in your rig since if things start going wrong and you can't register properly the blood starts to coagulate in the rig and then you feel pressured to finish the shot in a hurry.
