Injection site infection?

Long story short, I think one of my recent injection sites is infected. It was a place where I missed the vein, but realized it and did not push anything. This is the first time this has happened and I'm scared to go to the doctor. I don't want them reporting me to the police and getting arrested, but I know that it'll probably need medical attention. It looks like mosquito bite now, but it stings like a bee sting. How can i get treatment without getting arrested?

I forgot to say that it is currently a soft bump, no lump, not swollen, and not signigicantly warmer than the surrounding area. It's warm, but I can't tell if its due to fever or just being at my elbow and stays bent.

Probably nothing

Pics help, but it sounds like it is just swollen from a missed shot. The swelling should go down in a few days based upon what you shot and how well you filtered it or in better words how clean your solution was. As long at the pain does not spread up and down the arm it should be fine. If it really becomes a problem though go to your doctor.... Bullshit that someone you never met before and have no way to contact gave you a pill out of their script or something and recommended you shoot it when you got home after a night at the bar in case your really worried about being turned into cops so they can find your supplier, which is beyond unlikely. I doubt a doctor would call the cops because you were injecting illegal drugs therefor can be used to track down a supplier to arrest.... Besides there is doctor patient confidentiality to a degree it is not their jobs to report you to the police.

In all seriousness though.... Is losing your arm worth avoiding some drama with the police even worst case scenario some time in holding as they process you? You only have one body in this life so take care of it. Also curious what exactly were you injecting? How were you filtering it? Can you access a safe needle exchange/dispensary for fresh supplies? Ever ask for micron filters or even sterilfits? I highly recommend looking for the sterilfits if you can get them for free and will make near clear solutions out of everything. My dilaudids come out clear vs. cloudy and white with the small prerolled cottons the exchange gives out. I honestly prefer the sterilfits even to filter my dope for a shot while I do a second wash to put up my nose.

Sorry, I was half asleep when I posted that last night and probably a little panicky. I don't know how to upload pictures, but the best way I'd describe it is it looks and feels like a fire ant bite. There's still no heat, and the pain is localized. For now I'm treating it like a small abscess that is draining naturally. It's come to a white head twice and disappeared over tthe day.

To answer your other questions: no. If I thought it was threatening my arm, I'd definitely go. I was injecting methamphetamine, and the site in question is from Saturday night. I'll be honest, I have no clue where I'd even go about getting micron filters or sterilifts, or what to even do with them. I generally backfill with the stuff, and was never taught to filter. I don't do anything but meth. That area was cleaned with alcohol and the needle was new, though. Needle exchanges are illegal in my state, but if you go to enough pharmacies and know what to say, you can eventually get clean ones.

Thanks for your help.

Hi OP,

I only briefly glanced over your post but a doctor will not report you to the police, his job is to treat you medically. He's a doctor. yourtrippin said it, doctor patient confidentiality.

Ok I went back and read over your post. If it stings, yes you missed. Don't stress, it'll go away on it's own. Next time use a bit of anti-septic (Betadine is great) and cover it with a band-aid.

Can I suggest if you are shooting speed that you give it an acetone bath (plenty of info here on BL) or find a place to get 0.2 micron filters. Here I just found something for you:

http://www.amazon.com/SEOH-Syringe-...29?s=industrial&ie=UTF8&qid=1426388573&sr=1-2

*Acetone bath washes away some impurities like cutter but what you want is the blue 0.2 micron wheel, the IV users most important tool as it not only filters out insoluble crap but bacteria as well.

Search online for a PDF called "Getting Off Right". To make it easier use Google and in the search field enter the following:

filetype:pdf getting off right

If BL removes the link let me know or just Google it, you'll find what you need. Harm reduction saved my life.
