Injecting VERY small dose of Codeine

Everyone knows that you can't inject Codeine, because it causes a strong histamine release, that can lead to problems.
But Morphine also causes a strong histamine release, it's just not as dangerous as Codeine.

What would happen if someone would inject a very small dose of Codeine (a dose below the dangerous dose)? (*)

And what would happen if someone would inject Codeine with a heavy dose of Antihistamine taken before, during and after?

(*) what would be a "safe" dose of Codeine to inject? 1mg? 10mg? more?
 
Why would you want to do it? Codeine need to be metabolized to morphine before it works anyway... so not much is gained compared to nasal/rectal administration.
 
Codeine does have some inherent affinity for opioid receptors. I have heard of people getting "rushes" within 15 seconds of codeine injection. Whether this is because of metabolism by CYPs in the brain, or because of inherent affinity I don't know.

Seriously though Jason... People have died from doing this, pulmonary Odema, and massive histaminergic shock... just don't... I think it's time to get psychologically ready for withdrawal if you're considering this. (just my opinion).

I just wonder what happens if you inject a dose of Codeine way below the dangerous IV dose, with lots of antihistamines...
 
i tried iv'ing codeine a few times years and years ago. i did not have any problems but i was only iv'ing small amounts 30-60 mgs. overall i prefer just eating it.
 
Codeine is safe to inject intramuscularly or subcutaneously. However, I'm not sure what the benefits to these methods of administration would be, compared to oral dosing.
 
Well I used to IV 900-1200 mg (I started at 100 mg, that went up to 1200 mg) of codeine phosphat (in 30 ml water) and only side effects Ive noticed are feeling of extremely fever, heartracin and reddish skin at the face/chest area. Its a very common thing where I live and never seen anyone who experienced a serious reaction (well I had stroke but docs never been sure its IV codeine related or not). Anyway they say IVing codeine can cause pulmoner edema but I dont know any people who actually have this problem. I'd SC it also many times but thats not as effective as IV.

I'm not so sure about that being codeine, in that case, or the method of administration. Maybe you mean IM?
 
Well I think again and I should clear myself a little bit:).
Where I live, the smack is mostly very crappy and most of the people do cold water codeine n IV it. My above posts seems like a little "do it, its not dangerous, its safe" . Well thats not mean, you can IV it safely. What I mean is, it is possible. I dont know any people who died from it or had serious health problems. I only know myself who had serious problems (ischemic stroke) when consuming this item in very high doses and they are not sure its IV codeine related or not. So its up to you but if you ask me, my answer is "dont do it". Because it aint has a good high, well its very intens and has a powerful rush but the high is not that good. There are still many people here IVing it in very high doses (up to 2000 mg). People get very fucked up shooting that shit.
 
^ Hard to believe, but that's not the first time I've heard it... though that's the highest dose I've ever heard of. You must have had a hell of a tolerance though...
 
^^ Yeah I used to. Here, where I live, theres only one pill (500 mg paracetamol/10 mg codeine-30 pills per pack) can be cold watered. Its very cheap and many people do this drug. There are not that much non-prescripted opiates here, codeine is one of the most popular one:).
 
I read on google that 120mg Codeine (IM or SC, I don't remember) is equivalent to 30mg Morphine....
 
William Burroughs injects codeine when he is sick in his book "Junky." He has a bad reaction and feels like shit for an hour, but lives obviously.

Yes In "Junky" he describes how him and one of his friends inject Codeine... He describes all the symptoms of a strong histamine release... Hopefully he didn't die...
 
^^ I never had those side effects from the phosphat form and never saw anyone go sick like those guys did after IV. I never score sulphat though, it had become illegal here a long time ago.

I'm also interested in this. Primarily regarding injecting micron filtered preparations of opium, and whether the codeine in the solution would really be enough to make this dangerous.
