haha that was a classic along with the banana peel one, whoever told me said they'd water it down and it was due to it having a high vitamin B content which almost makes it sound believable haha
I personally despise vegemite and thought it was funny so never bothered even looking at a jar to see if it had vitamin B but passed the joke on in the pre internet days for a laugh.
Another classic was that Marilyn Manson removed his two lowermost ribs so he could suck his own dick haha I was imagined the dude who came up with any of those sitting back with a spliff and a beer years later hearing someone repeat it in all seriousness and quietly chuckling to himself

I went to jail for the first time in 2024 and there is no Vegemite in there and when I asked one of the girls who had been there longer, she said it was because people used to inject it to get a high. The alcohol thing makes more sense though it's funny that the saying is still going strong to this date!
