Injecting unisom... WHY?!

Can someone please explain why IV heroin users buy as much Unisom as they can possibly get? At the chemist I work at we have heroin users coming in with scripts from the doctor for like ten boxes, even though it costs OTC prices ($11/box of 8 caps). Obviously the guy is reselling them on the street.
My question is why?
I know injecting the gel temazepam was a problem years ago, and I can understand that injecting a benzo would give a rush, but how the hell does Unisom provide any value as a recreational drug? Each liquid filled gel cap contains 50mg diphenhydramine HCl (a sedating antihistamine).
I mean, the "liquid" is gel which has to be heated just to get thru the needle into the vein, where it sits and wrecks your veins.
Are there any IV Unisom and/or H users who can explain this to me please? Also, is it injected as a combination or as a substitute for heroin when withdrawing?

It's quite perplexing so any answers would be much appreciated.

Ta.

1 When there is no H around it fills the gaps.

2 When mixed with H it increases the Euphoria

yeah it is. it's commonly a heroin cut in aus anyway i think, along with caffeine.

Unisom is injected to boost sedative effects of heroin.

The practice really started when temazepam gel caps became unavailable.

In comparison to temazepam injection, Unisom injection is relatively benign - the drug (diphenhydramine HCl) is water soluble and suitable for injection (although ideally not in this form). The gel cap itself is very hard, but the contents are quite runny at room temperature - and water soluble - so they won't "wreck your veins".

It's a pretty shit drug by itself - almost always injected along with H to increase the stone.
