That is NOT to say it is a good idea. There is plenty of valid research out there that it is in fact a BAD idea. and I am aware of this. But as I am not to bright, and like to make myself the guinnie pig for various dangerous experiments...

I cold water extracted 150mg of Codeine from tylenol 3 tablets.
filtered and injected the fluid (ended up with 3 FULL 1ml rigs)

I got no rush.. but I am definately feeling the opiates
I have a crazy tolerance though so that kinda surprises me.

any thoughts?

To top off the night.. I also did a 10/325 norco tablet.
no rush.... dont feel any different at all really.

and NO I dont plan on doing this in the long term at all-- just wanted to see if there was any immediate negatives

You are aware this is a HARM REDUCTION forum, right?

I don't think I've ever seem anyone claim this injecting codeine is a 'certain death sentence' but as you said, there is a lot of published literature on the dangers and there is very little (if any) upside to doing this.

What did you expect from starting this thread? All I can see here is that by posting this, you're encouraging other people to do something that is dangerous (whether that is your intention or not).

I don't see any harm reduction value in leaving this open - if anyone disagrees, feel free to PM me and let me know why.

EDIT:

If you do have a very high tolerance to opioids then your findings are irrelevant anyway because you have a tolerance to the histamine reaction. The danger in injecting codeine, as I understand it, is from the histamine reaction so since you have a high tolerance to opioids, you have a tolerance to this effect.

The oral bioavailability of codeine is 90% or greater so these low doses IV'd in someone with a high tolerance doesn't at all demonstrate safety.

The BLer 'unknown' did the same thing years ago - he made a thread about how he IV'd hydrocodone but he did a dose WAY below his tolerance.

From what I can tell, these 'experiments' do not at all affect how these drugs should be seen or treated.
