I injected 8mg's of hydromorphone (mallinckrodts) into my left hand, around about 15 or 20 minutes ago, and now my arm is tingling. It's REALLY freaking me out, but as far as I can tell there's no discoloration other than a red, rash looking thing around a spot where I missed a little bit. I kind of feel like it's slowly creeping up into the rest of my body, but i'm also on the verge of a panic attack so i don't know if i can even really make a valid assessment of myself. I did it in 2 shots, 4mg's each. I had to poke around on the first shot but I don't think I missed any.

The second shot I did, I cooked up in a spoon that had some heroin in it. I used part of a cigarette filter at first, but something stopped me from drawing up any more liquid. I grabbed a q-tip, tore a little bit off, rolled it up, and swapped the cottons. I also swapped rigs, because I hit the first one on the bottom of the spoon a few times and i could feel that it was super dull. The second q-tip failed after awhile too. At that point I assumed it was because the water that was left was sort of a sludge because of the pill material. I used a 3rd and final filter, got the majority of it back out.

After all that I ended up with about 45units out of the 100 units I put in originally. At first I go for a vein I'd never tried before, on the inside of my wrist right at the base of the thumb. I missed a little bit there and it hurt like a bitch because, well... tar always hurts like a bitch lol. So I pull out, and hit another vein further down, on the same side as my thumb but pretty much perfectly lined up with the middle of the "ball" on the pinky side of my wrist. Goes in perfect.

About 15 minutes after injection I started feeling kind of tingly in my left hand, then arm, then shoulder/neck. If I wasn't freaking out about it it might almost feel good. As i've been typing this, i got a bruise in the center of the bottom of my left forearm, kind of centered around the main vein. It's almost right where I tied the tourniquet. I loosened the tourniquet when I did the shot.. but could it not have been loosened all the way and ruptured the vein? It's also right where my arm rests while typing... could that have something to do with it?

I kinda fucked around while typing this, and it's now been nearly an hour. I'm starting to feel better, but i'm still experiencing some numbness and tingling in my left shoulder/neck area. I wore some lidocaine patches about 8 hours ago, but i took them off 6 hours ago. I've also drank half a beer and smoked ~0.15 g's of A- grade no name hydro grown here in northern california. I'm not freaking out anymore, but still kind of worried. Anyone have any idea's what this could have been?

Sounds like you missed a small amount and got a histamine reaction - tingles, hardcore itches, red and white spoltches. Bruise is from a dull rig or diggin to deep. Unless you form an abcess or your entire arm is completely numb you're fine. Also DO NOT COOK OR HEAT PILLS. Everrrrrr

Another possibility is that you nicked a nerve. Hitting a nerve is also much more likely if you shoot in the hand/wrist area.

I think I'm going to send this to OD as they have more experience in this area..

BDD > OD

The vein on the inside of your wrist that you described is damn close to an artery. Now you may not have hit it, but there is a specific vein in my hand that I use that I KNOW for a fact that immediately travels thru that area and every time my arm gets all blotchy, tingly, and sorta numb. I know I don't miss. It could be the same situation as you. It always goes away in less than an hour and taking any anti-histamine helps.

Hopefully you know the difference between hitting a vein and hitting an artery.

Next time try shooting into the crook of your arm.For about the last week I've been exclusively shooting 12mg hydrmorphone capsules and haven't had anything similar to this.

I dont know anything about ahooting anything but in the movie "Drugstore Cowboy", Matt Dillon heats up a pill before shooting it, was that accurate?

^Not at all...This movie took place a long time ago,so they didn't know what we know now.in fact the pill he heated (a 10 mg IR Oxymorphone tablet) would have been as easy to prep as adding cold water stiring and filtering.

Some pills need to be heated to be injected, period end of story.Like many generic brands of MS Contin. If you want to inject them with a 1 cc rig then heat is needed not optional. It is an unhealthy and dangerous practice but it has to be done to get an injectable solution.

those are the only pills I heat.Other pills I shoot are all done with cold water. These include: Oxycontin,Dilaudid/Hydromorph Contin,Ritalin, instant release morphine and oxycodone and the name brand MS Contin by Purdue are best done cold.

Heating pills in dangerous and unnecessary. Period. Opiates are soluble in cold water; all heating it does is get more binders/inactives into the solution while it is hot, and then when it cools inside your rig they will precipitate back out and get into your bloodstream. By using cold water and a micron filter, you can create a clear solution to inject containing only the opiate from your pills and no binders/fillers/bacteria. Cotton can only filter out particles bigger than roughly 50 microns. Bacteria and certain inactives are less than that and cotton will not remove them. Using a .22 micron filter you can remove all the junk.

Anyone injecting pills on a regular basis needs to check out The Micron Filtering Mega Thread and FAQ. Your veins and body will thank you greatly.

I would shoot there, but that spot is really sore from me practicing on myself while learning how to IV... i'm kind of a noob to it. Started about 2 weeks ago... hoping to stop ASAP. I ran out of money so i'm taking a sort of forced break, gonna try and stay strong when i get paid again. My hand is sore as fuck too now, but I think I'll be alright. How long does it usually take for soreness from injecting to go away?

If the pain is from simply missing a shot or from a bruise, it should not last more than a couple days. But if you were to get an abscess the pain could persist for quite a while, and if you were not to get medical attention it would not improve on its own. It doesn't sound like an abscess at this point but keep an eye on it for redness/swelling. Take an anti-inflammatory (ibuprofen) and maybe toss a warm compress on it, which should keep swelling down and promote healing. If it doesn't improve in a couple days it may be in your better interest to get it checked out by a doctor.
