Hi there! I was using the Marquis test kit and accidentally caught a whiff of it an hour ago. It smelt bad. It was very quick though. I hope I'll be okay. I don't really have symptoms, slight irritation in throat maybe?

you will be fine get some fresh air and water it was only short exposure most chemists working in labs end up inhaling many worse things through their career without problems. it was probably sulfuric acid fumes which would cause a little irriation in the small amount you were exposed to but nothing to stress about.

I have a mate that transports hazardous substances for a living. Among them sulphuric acid, much much more concentrated than in marquis reagent. He had an accident a while ago where he inhaled a substantial amount of fumes. His throat and lungs had burns on them. That was about a year ago and he is fine now, the damage has completely healed. This to say that even in extreme circumstances the damage heals. You will be fine, no worries

Yup any damage is related to the caustic nature of sulfuric acid, there’s no worry on any long term toxicity. Essentially if you aren’t hurting now, your fine lol.
