Information on opiate derivatives and their effects

Anyone that has extensive knowledge on opiate derivatives, I was wondering if you could help me answering a few questions. Are Oxycodone, Hydrocodone or Vicodin ever injected? If so what type of feeling would be induced on the user? And what any of these drugs, or a combination (if used together) cause anyone to indulge in reckless behaviour such as theft (e.g. shoplifting and petty crime). Also, if I am correct, Oxycodone is somewhat similar to Heroin, being an Opiod analgesic? What dosage would need to be taken in order to achieve the recreactional effects ("mellowness", euphoria, etc.)

Thanks.

Vicodin is hydrocodone with Tylenol in it. It cannot be in injected. Hydrocodone can be injected by itself but would probably kill you if you tried. Don't do it.

They could cause people to engage the reckless behavior, but it is very unlikely. The drug that causes people to engage in reckless behavior most often would be alcohol, methamphetamine is a distant second when it comes to causing reckless behavior.

Oxycodone, heroin (diamorphine), hydrocodone and many others are all opioid analgesics.

As far as what dosage is needed to achieve recreational effects, that depends on many factors:

1) Which opiate/opioid you're talking about
2) Any tolerance to opiates/opioids the person in question may have
3) Any other medications/drugs the person in question is using
4) The body mass of the person in question..although this is less important than the other three

Okay, thanks. I was talking about the recreational effects from Oxycodone as well as the effects if you used a combination of these drugs together. Can Oxycodone be injected?

Oxycodone can be injected, and all the opiates have similar subjective effects. These include euphoria, relaxation, sedation (sometimes called "nodding out"), increased socializing and generally feeling good. These effects vary from opiate to opiate, for example, oxycodone is a lot less sedating then morphine or heroin, for most people. So combining them would cause, well, a combination of the effects.

There are, of course, negative side effects to opiates, including constipation, itching, sedation (this can also be a positive effect depending on what the user wants), and finally, addiction.

I recommend you read up on the Erowid.org pages for oxycodone, it has all the basic information you're looking for:

And as far as general information for opiates, check out this link:

The best way, in my opinion, to think of opiates and how they differ from one another is to imagine that wooden game for children, the one with all the different shapes that each fit into their corresponding little niches. The niches, in this case, would be the receptors in the brain. All opiates, for the most part, are packages containing a certain number of those shapes that fit the receptors. So, for example, heroin might have a certain number of circles and triangles and squares whereas oxycodone might have fewer circles and far more triangles. The circles might cause more sedation and the squares might cause greater euphoria or what have you. Hence, all opiates are similar, but different.

Damn, for a simple analogy that took a long time to explain, huh? Well, it makes sense to me. lol

Well heroin is similar to oxycodone but heroin is derived from morphine and oxycodone is derived from thebaine, both from opium. Heroin is more sedating and oxycodone stimulating, almost like a stimulant. They are both semi synthetic opioid analgesics (narcotics).

Hydrocodone shouldn't be injected but both oxycodone and heroin can be injected.

The dose that should be taken depends on your tolerance and to some extent your weight, but mostly tolerance. So I couldn't answer that for you without knowing it.

Reckless behavior is brought upon by addiction. I was stealing from my job while I was working to support my habit. Needless to say, after doing this daily they found out and I was arrested for theft and possession of a controlled substance (you guessed it, oxycodone). Now I have a record and will never be able to get a job at the cash register again. I also got into two freeway accidents. Both flip overs and I should be dead, don't know how I'm alive. I was under the influence of methadone and oxycodone. Those are on my record also. I'm a repeat felon...a criminal. Thanks to opiate addiction. :(

I was asking this because I recently read a probation report on Winona Ryder from the time she shoplifted and all those psychiatric drugs were found in her handbag. All of them were strong opiate type drugs, ones you can obtain with prescription (hers were forged). a syringe was also found which lead to claims she had been abusing heroin for almost a decade and she had recently come off heroin and began using oxycodone because it mirrored the effects of heroin. i always wanted to know if her shoplifting was brought on by the fact that she was probably a bit out of it due to the said drug use.

EDIT: Of course this was nearly ten years ago, back in late 2001, but I was still curious.

Personally, I wouldn't consider opiates to be psychiatric drugs just because I've never heard of a psychiatrist prescribe them, but who knows. She was most likely shoplifting to support her habit, or because she likes shoplifting. Maybe both. But that's speculation at best.

In my experience opium does not have any effect on behavior except when it comes to feeding the addiction that follows....

I have always known full well what I was doing.....

Sorry to hear that k'd out........I am lucky to not have any criminal record.

Smoking opium got me really high. I hadn't been such an addict when I first tried it so it may have been different when I was using 320mg OxyContin daily. Although I didn't get high from Opium tincture

320 mg OxyContin daily?! Balls! I can't even wrap my head around that... I understand that tolerance builds quickly, but shit, that's what... 4 80 OCs a day? Now I'm thinking about the dollar amount, daily, weekly, monthly...

My habit cost me $160/daily for 4 80mg OC at $40 each. It got to be too much that I switched to a gram and a half of H that only cost me $90 and I got more out of it.

That is quite incredible. It's amazing that you got clean. I'm assuming you did as you wrote in the paste tense.

That would cost you $58,400 a year, just for oxycodone alone. Amazing, and I know as any other, what opioid addiction can do to us.

Damn! 58K? That money could have gone to so much better stuff than opiates. What a waste. You can only imagine what I had to do for that money. I'm just glad I never gave blowjobs for $20. I only did for $30...only joking lol

Haha I lold there. Yeah $20 would have been a sellout!

I too have wasted a lot of money on opioids. I miss the days when I wasn't always skint because I'd not wasted all my money on drugs.
