Your site is a treasure, however - could you please explain your policy on filtering source/supply/buying info?

My initial reaction to the subject is you could have people choose whether they want to read it to have to manually select to read it. Free this information to your readers, but hide it from the search engines. Meeting in the middle and you can keep the policy of no source threads, but if someone in one thread does say a source you can just hide it, not delete it.

IMO, thumbs up/down readdit like settings could be applied to the fitlering issue. and a nice touch in other regards.

Arguably I should be able to say "i am going to go
purchase xyz at store abc, or at jfk and ha anyone had a positive or negative experience at with xyz at those stores?" this would clearly invite shilling, but a good community always crushes more shills. wikipedia may not be 100% right, but it is the best at freeing valuable informtion.

Thanks again for the wonderful site!

Also, how does one become a mod?

Bluelight is an international board.

Think that what is legal and in some countries is not legal in others therefore it wouldn't be right to have sources for stuff that may be illegal in some countries.

And if you're talking about allowing sources for illegal stuff, then that would be breaking the law and have the site shutdown within days.

Also "Information freedom" - before anyone asks - Use of bluelight is a privelidge not a right, they can allow or deny whatever information they see fit.

(This is not an official statement from bl staff but I think I've covered the main reasons)

Our purpose is Harm Reduction. If we became a hub for sourcing it would:
  • Legally endanger the board and members
  • Source issues would drown out HR discussion
  • Promoters of product would be posting lots of misinformation and selective data to promote their product and cause people to switch to their product
I am personally confident that the above is true. #1 alone is enough reason to maintain a strict no sources policy. I doubt BL would have survived even a couple years without it.

There is a passage in the Greenlighter's Guide about this. http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/faq.php?faq=greenlighters_guide#faq_gg10

The only sourcing you are allowed to do is to how to buy needles, and other harm reduction supplies, like micron filters.

Drugs, pills, pharmaceuticals, legal or not, even if it isn't illegal anywhere in the world, is still considered sourcing and is not allowed on Bluelight.
