What would be the interactions be between these 2? I understand that it would probably knock you out binding to DA2 and 5ht2 receptors.

If a dose of quetiapine was taken, how long would it negate the action of amphetamines for? Would it simply be a matter the time taken for it to be eliminated from your system, which is around 26 hours for DA2 to be back to normal, while 5HT2 would only be down to 50% by this stage.

I have read that amphetamines would antagonize Quetiapine and was wondering what would occur if amphetamines were taken before it was fully eliminated from your system?

Would it simple be a matter of reduced effects or could there be added implications?

ps. this question relates to a once off low dosage of quetiapine 25mg max, not regular use.

Cheers

Alex

Quetiapine (seroquel) kills the effects of amphetamines reasonably effectively.

Used to use it to get to sleep after meth binges, and it worked better than pretty much anything else except maybe zopiclone.

^ Yes it probably would dull the effects on the next day; but probably not the day after that.

yeah that part I'm pretty sure of, just wondering if it would also negate the effects if you had amphetamines again the following day.

Seroquel has a very short half life (for an anti-psychotic) of only 6-8 hours from memory, so if you take it one night, you should be able to get high the next night.

I lived with a girl who took 2 tablets a night, and would always drink ALOT the next night and get high/trashed (cheap cask wine - not much better than a junkie in my opinion...)

A good mate takes a small dose of Avanza (Mirtazapine) 7.5 mg a night (just help with sleep and he gets hay fever if he does not take it) and he stops taking it 2 days before a rave, and when he goes out to party (pills, speed, ect) he gets REALLY FUCKING HIGH! (rebound effect).

I have also taken a small dose of mirtazapine (7.5mg) 2 days before going to a rave club and got REALLY fucking high on a very small does of speed at the rave.

And before people reply that Avanza and Seroquel are totally different drugs, both are REALLY STRONG H1 antagonists, and medium 5HT2a blockers, and seroquel a weakish D2 blocker, and Avanza a medium alpha2 blocker, so in SMALL doses they feel pretty similar. In LARGE doses they feel different.

My personal experience is that after of 100mg of quetiapine it takes about 24h before amphetamines work reasonably well.
