Benzos inevitable withdrawal-what to do?

hey,

ive been using amphetamine (regular european street powder) 3 times within the last month. at least a week between, two weeks once.

now, i got me some ritalin 10's. been snorting them (80-90mg total now) and have also taken 2mg klonopin over the last couple hours to cool down the physical effects.

anyway, i used benzos hardcore from May'09 to September '09. in the end 15mg xanax a day didnt faze me at all. i realized i was wasting pills/money and decided to taper off. i started in september'09 and relapsed so many times that i finally completed it in April'10. did it with valium 5mg, then 2.5mg, then 1.25mg and free i was. clean for 30-35 days and i was beginning to feel pretty good. so good that i was stupid enough to 'try using again'. a lesson learned though, never going to be so stupid again.

i didnt start using everyday again, well not more than 3-5 days in a row. but the depression and lethargy/apathy are always there after ive stopped, its very hard to get through.

after reading up on benzo withdrawal on wiki im scared shitless about the supposed facts that wd symptoms regularly last 6 months, sometimes years.
well, last time i was almost fine after a month or so.
i dont intend to not consume any ritalin or amphetamines from now on for the long foreseeable future. im sure theyve also been a part of why ive been feeling so extremely crappy after the 24hr binge and then 3-5 days of benzo usage.
thing is though, ive never tapered during those 3-5 days of use. usually i just popped ~15mg valium and that was that. no physical wd symptoms, just psychological. my thinking has been that the longer i dose benzos no matter the dosage, it will only prolong the time ive been taking them every day and therefore will prolong the wd's etc. was i wrong?

recently, i used temazepam/ambien/midazolam/xanax a few days ago (last thursday thru saturday, i think). no other drugs were involved except weed.

ive now consumed 80-90mg ritalin insufflated over 8 hours or so.
2mg clonazepam taken over the last few hours to reduce the jitteryness.

what im asking is - what benzos, at what dosage, should i use to get to sleep and to make myself feel a bit better tomorrow after waking up?

after that, should i go 'cold turkey' or should i do some kind of a short, small taper?

everyone else with similar experiences who are in the same place right now or who are over their wd's and enjoying normal life - i would so greatly appreciate Your stories and replys right now. i want to hear from real people not from wikipedia or from other places with various 'studies'.

thank You in advance for all Your replys

the questions and the whole text is about benzos.
i used amphetamines only 3 times within the last month, so no wd's there.
its just that right now ive used 90mg of ritalin which makes it hard to fall asleep/feel ok next day without the help of benzos.
ive already consumed 2mg kpin, what else would be ok to take for sleep and next day to feel ok?
and should i do a quick taper after that or go 'cold turkey' as in just stop?

It's always advisable to taper with benzos because you can have seizures. I'm pretty sure amphetamines also lower your seizure threshold so I would stay away from them if you can. Seems like stimulants would be the last thing I would want when I'm withdrawing but I've never been addicted to benzos just opiates.

Forgive me if I'm wrong. But are you saying that you are only taking benzos tonight to help sleep. I me experiencei can go a month or so on benzos evey day with only a few day taper. The worst i've ever had in terms o w/d's is a headach. I have you out tho that everyone is diffrent, but I think the bad w/ds are for ppl long term treatment. Hope this helps

If youve been off them for at least two months and plan on taking them for a few days, take whatever you need to do the job, and if its just for sleep, dont redose during the day, dont take any more than you need. I would say if you need more than 4mg kpin to sleep you should try something analogous like a z drug.

Z drugs have cross tolerance and dependence too though, but it could help a little. try not to switch over the dependence onto them if you do

if you only used for a few months a year ago and then semi-regularly, it will probably suck since the w/d feelings will come back, but it will be a lot quicker and easier than after your couple month run

you'll probably be tempted to use amphet or benzos to reduce the lethargy or w.d. effects. i'd reccomend switching to an OTC antihistamine for a little while so you get plenty of sleep during the w.d/rebound, maybe for the most sleepless nights out of the first week

yeah, to me it doesn't sound like you should be getting full on benzo w/d from your recent use. i wouldn't even worry about a taper unless you start feeling weird like w/d beginning, and then just little amounts very sparingly.

im going through benzo w/d. Get a slow taper of valium or librium, and maybe try lyrica it seems to be helping me. Just brace yourself. It is pretty rough. The slower the taper the more likely you are to not have it for a year. Good luck. Im scared too. Just gather all the strength you have. Know that it will end. You will be stronger in the end. I already have withdrawn before and things got easier cause nothing else felt like a big deal compared to the shit i went through. I stupidly got addicted again but I know that it isnt permanent. Ive only been on for 2 months and am going through just as bad withdrawals as I did when i was on for a year or two. But that may have to do witht he fact that ive been addicted before and may have just reinstated. Have you been addicted to benzos before? if not then you dont have much to worry about, but stillt aper just in case.

Your first mistake is reading up on benzo withdrawal symptoms on wiki...yes, they are terrible but its subjective and everyone is different..

are you using daily? if so, what benzo and what is the average dosage? i can recommend a taper plan..

i used up to 15mg of xanax a day for 3-4 months or so last year. after that i used 3-6mg for a month or so and then like 2-3mg. in the end it was only valium and i tapered from 20>15>10 in a month or so. after that it was some time at 10 and then straight to 5mg which sucked but was manageable. then i cut it to 2.5mg and after that 1.25mg. that took another month. so in the end, i dosed my last 1.25mg valium in the end of April 2010. so i used benzos from June 2009 to April 2010. there were months where i used 15mg's of xanax a day and months where i used 6mg's. and then there months where i used equivalent to 0.5-1mg. in total, thats a pretty long time but im glad i didnt stay on the ridiculous doses (10-15mg per day) for more than 3 months.

after finishing the taper i was clean for 35 days or so. then i used benzos for 4-5 days.
then had a minor withdrawal (minor for benzos), used again for 2-4 days, w/d again, used again etc. so no continuous use but every time i used for more than 2 days, i felt the mental w/d.

i used temazepam, midazolam, alprazolam, zolpidem for 3-4 days since about 3 days ago. so now, ive used 2mg clonazepam and 0.75mg of alprazolam which was 14hrs ago. its 8.20pm and i didnt get much sleep last night even with the benzos (too hot in my room (85F+) and the 100mg of ritalin i used also didnt help i guess ;)), so i would like to go to sleep in a few hours. probably gonna use temazepam/midazolam/brotizolam, one or two of the three. and then tomorrow i think i should take 5mg of diazepam so the benzos would leave my system more gradually.
does this sound like a fine plan or what?
