I've been doing a lot of research on this and can't find the answer to my question.

I know that depriving the cactus of light and water boosts the mescaline content in defence, and that it should be done right before harvesting, but my question is: Would a harvested piece of San Pedro, left in a dark cool place for approx 10 months have an increase in it's mescaline content?

I was keeping 2 tips of cactus to re-plant once I moved but forgot about them and only found them a few weeks ago. They had grown about 4-6" and were pure white on the new growth. They also had grown roots. Would they be more potent now or would I be better off keeping them to plant?

I think it is better to stress the cacti while it is still growing and receiving nutrients, I can't find any info on increasing the alkaloid after harvest.

I have recently been researching chemical doping to increase the content seems interesting and easy enough to do, there is some info here on bluelight about it and a good write up on erowid.

Yes that's what I'm talking about.

If you cant get dopamine I've read that you can use L-Dopa, tyramine and DMSO effectively, then wait 8 months or something until harvest.

Edit- Obviously read it in that thread.

I'm seriously starting to wonder if my san pedro is the weakest ever as I have tripped 5 times with only minimal effects at best

^^ Perhaps you're not consuming enough? Or the method you're using isn't the most effective way. On the few times I'd used San Pedro I've tripped balls, and once I didn't even have what was consider a "sufficient" dose.

Really? Maybe your plant isn't very potent. I've tripped balls off of half a foot before. Not the most potent trip every, but patterns were crawling down the wall and stuff.

i was too scared to have my san pedro brew when i had it in the fridge :(
was something about vomiting before tripping that made me terrified to drink it, but looking back i wish i took the opportunity to partake in he experience.

injecting dopamine sounds a lil extreme, surely the growing of the cactus would have more of a difference on the potency of the end product as apposed to something at the end of the growing cycle?

even with my green thumb i wasn't able to keep my poor little cactus alive, this puzzled me greatyly!
it is a very curious little plant.

^^ Honestly it is the foulest thing I have ever ingested, and that alone is almost enough to make me throw up..... without even having the mescaline effect.

But when I only had half a foot, I tripped pretty good and didn't throw up. I've heard that if you don't throw up you haven't had a sufficient dose, well tell that to the patterns I saw crawling down the wall. =P

Yeah, you should of done it man. =D

Yeah the first time I did it I felt really stoned and had mild MDMA like visuals. Sometimes when I eat the cactus dry or wet I do not skin it completely (too Tedious) do you think that could be working against me as well. I mean I grind up the dried stars into poder so how could the waxy outer layer matter much?

would love to know what result (if any) you've had from these cuttings?

last san pedro cook-up i had was of a similarly stressed specimen, white tips and all - and contrary to a lot of the san pedro folklore, it seemed a lot weaker than pedro i've consumed straight out of healthy growing conditions.

is the light/water deprivation = greater mescaline yields theory an urban myth?

I hate to ask cause I'm sure you know what your doing. Are you sure it wasent tricho peruvianas (peruvian fire torch) intstead of tricho pachanoi (san pedro)? I believe it you know mescaline quantity can vary wildly. How fat was the diameter of the 6" peice?

I say plant them or at least 1 of them. Honestly I do not belive that a stressed san pedro yields more mescaline. There just isnt sufficient data. If there is I would love to see it. It all sounds like hearsay and speculation based on the fact that the mescaline is a defense mechanism or deterent which would have one conclude that it increases mescaline while being fucked with.

yeah, in my experience it seemed that stressing it may have decreased the mescaline yield significantly, but i don't have any way of comparing it as it was the only specimen we had...so i'm curious to know what other people's experiences are.

it is a shame how these drug myths get picked up and passed around as truths by so many people. especially if it actually results in a less satisfying experience.

Heya! It's all good man. =)
Yes, it was definitely San Pedro. Not sure how old the cutting was, as I didn't personally cut this piece myself. Diameter was probably around 10cm, but it was a long time ago now so I can't say with any kind of assurance.
