I have been using kratom for a few months and I have yet to tell my friends that use opiates about it. They are more ignorant and irresponsible than me when it comes to drugs. They aren't stupid people, they are just very impulsive when it comes to drugs.

I'm concerned that if I tell them that it may help to create a bad name for kratom. Word may get out to people that are far more irresponsible than my friends, my town is filled with them. On the other hand I would like to enjoy the kratom experience with friends. Should we spread the word about kratom or try to keep it a secret?

heh, I know what you mean. I found about kratom recently, but I'm reluctant to share the love.

I feel like Gollum hiding in his cave with the ring.

I've been buying for over a year and haven't told anyone. It's reviewed a lot in the state governments and is already banned in some states.

I've heard some rough stories about Kratom. Is it troublesome when you stop using it? How quickly does tolerance build? I wouldn't worry about telling people, there's enough information out there that if they want it they can get it. As far as your friends go, share the wealth!

The way I see it the more people that find out the truth about kratom the less likely it is to be banned. If you get the word out responsibly it should help people and save lives. I've introduced a few drug addicts to kratom and they all enjoyed kratom. This kept them off harder shit to varying extents.

Kratom can actually have a bad damn withdrawal in most people. I don't tell many people about it anymore, because they never believe me when I tell them not to use large daily doses. Then a couple months later they come crying to me b/c they can't function during the withdrawal. Lol.

Granted, the withdrawal isn't nearly as bad as coming off methadone or suboxone, so I can see it being a good replacement for those.

The guys down at the kava/kratom bar tell enough people about it anyway, they don't need me

it's in the news already. as i see it, it's probably going to go the way of salvia. illegal in a lot of states, while some don't care. it all depends on how much coverage in gets in the future. for that reason, i go the safe route and keep it to myself.

i'm not arguing against its benefits, as i know all too well how much it can helps a more serious addiction. just saying that it's in a grey area at the moment and the less it's prevalent media-wise, the better it is for people who want/need it.

Like anything, only tell people who seem to have a desire to want to know, or whom you think it'll benefit. You don't wanna be that annoying guy, going out lecturing everyone under the sun, when they don't wanna hear it. If people have a want to be schooled, school them. If not, keep it to yourself.

There's a fine line with things like kratom, etizolam, etc, of not wanting to talk about it too much and tell too many people, because if it becomes too popular, that's when laws get changed.

I wasn't looking to lecture anyone, just mention it in an offhand way.

The legality issues with it do seem to have cooled down. Sir Topham had a good point, as long as kratom stays in the shadows it has a good chance of staying legal, just like salvia.

it may be best if it stays covert, if we want it to be available in the future.
