Increasing alkaloid content of San Pedro: dopamine

This may not be "advanced" but I failed to get any real replies in the PD forum, so I will ask it here.

I'm sure you guys are aware of the practice of "doping" Trichocereus Pachanoi (injecting the cacti with dopamine or l-dopa to increase mescaline content).

I would like to try this on San Pedro using DMSO, h2o and dopamine (applied to the plant topically). The issue is, I have no idea what the best concentration of dopamine would be for this purpose. The available dopamine is a 80mg/ml solution, which I would most likely have to evaporate.

Also, this would also increase the other phenethylamine alkaloids, but hopefully they will maintain the same ratios to mescaline as non-doped cacti (is this a safe assumption?). I would try it with two different plants, and compare total alkaloid contents.

Somewhat unrelated, is the preferred mescaline salt HCL, because of potency? Mescaline Sulphate is less potent, but perhaps it stores better? What about acetate salts?

does this actually work? I would expect that the other enzymes are the rate limiting step in particular the aromatic hydroxylation step.

if you want to be properly scientific then you should use two cuttings from the same plant, to eliminate genetic differences otherwise your results will be pretty meaningless.

I would think that the DMSO is a waste of effort dopamine will get in through the stomata if it is applied at night. 80mg per ml will be more than concentrated enough.

mescaline sulphate is preferred because it forms pretty crystals (long needles), when pure, no other reason. mescaline sulphate vs hydrochloride versus whatever salt are equipotent based on the amount of mescaline base.
 
Using L-DOPA and PEA powder mixed into a liquid solution seems to have worked for my friend. He has several different cacti and using varying solutions seems to have increased the potency quite strongly.
 
The practice of drying the cactus in the sun is said to increase it´s potency, I have no doubt that´s true because I trust this fellow.

My question is :
what kind of chemical conversions could happen to the cacti alkaloids under sun heat and dehydratation ?
 
I doubt any. Dehydration won't do anything, and while light can degrade PEAs over a long, long period of time, the cactus is shielding the actives from the light. Heat below 100C does essentially nothing.
 
So should I not use DMSO? I was going to use a 60%-40% DMSO-water solution, and then use a 1:4 or 1:3 of ratio of the diluted DMSO to dopamine (80mg). I have absolutely no clue if this would work. Perhaps I could simply apply the dopamine solution at night, although I would worry that not all would get through. I suppose I could try this a couple of different ways, but I dont really feel like many different A/B's. I will be pissed if the yeild differs by less than 10%.

Nothing serious. Lots of compounds tend to decarboxylize upon drying but as far as none of the interesting alkaloids do contain any carboxylic group, you're safe.
