Incense

Lavender is the mother fucking biz. I have heaps of plants around my girls and my house, cut it up and put it everywhere :D

I use the HEM Precious Chandan sticks.. I usually only burn a quarter at a time because it can get too strong for me.

Some friends can't stand incense, that would suck.

I do have to try burning oils though.. i've been thinking about investing in the holder + oils recently..

They're good. You can also use "wax tarts" in them, they're smaller and cheaper than candles. If you can afford it get an electric one though so you don't have to keep buying tealight candles.

Yeah, I saw the electric ones at a shop before.. I'll let you know how I go ;D

Can't stand oils, will blow out the candle as soon as I find them.

Also dislike the shops that reek of stale incense smoke, but a fresh burning one is nice. Buy a couple mystery packs for cheap every now and then but generally have preferred Night queen, the sweet nag champa one - superhit?, and opium.

Anyone tried this one??

It's my favourite for sure, they are really big sticks and burn for ages. Sometimes you have to dry them out a bit because they absorb water from the atmosphere...

I picked up some of those in Chinatown last week. I haven't had a chance to light one up yet but they are definitely pungent. I can smell them if I'm within 2 meters of the things and they are in the packet wrapped in brown paper.

I burn sticks all the time and I have a huge range of oils that I bought over in Egypt and Israel which I just love and they are very unique.

Burning an incense stick when working on bonsai is a real treat.

i like incense and scented candles tho don't use em often coz I often don't think of putting them on =P some are a bit too strong on the nose I've disovered (like this vanilla candle in a glass pot thingo from Dusk, also some particular types of incense sticks which I can't recall atm..

atm I'm not minding Auroshikha Orange Blossom and Cinnamon incense (from Ishka) though most I quite like.

speaking of Nag Champa- we incorporated it into our name and logo (and fondness for nangs) for this year's Rainbow heheheh (pic attached)

this thread has inspired me to put some on now actually. oh after I've vacuumed tho!
that's the only annoying thing- the incense ash- I have a long incense stick holder and a flat square glass dish/plate to keep it and candels on but still gets a bit messy (tbh the dish is also there to cover burn marks on top my white Ikea set of draws that remain from times before it the plate around :\ sometimes the ask doesn't fall where you want it to/on the burner. naughty ash!

I burn incense constantly!
I just love the atmosphere it gives a room, especially while in the bath or bed.
Patchouli and nag champa are my favourites at the moment.

Does anyone have any information, preferably verified from a reputable source, regarding possible adverse health effects from burning and hence breathing in incense?

I (and I assume most people) know that they should burn them in a well ventilated space, but I know of several people who don't and then there are people who burn it constantly. Surely there's likely to be effects from long-term exposure.

Incense has been linked to cancer and a pretty reliable study pointed this out (it looked at a bunch of people in countries where incense burning is religiously implicated and massively popular and compared a lot of people who have and have not been using incense for a long time). I can't be fucked searching and linking to it but just google and you'll find all the popular science interpretations of the paper.
