Hands tremble,
vision blurred by tears,
perception detached as the reality sets in.

Tragedy takes another piece of your heart.
Five lives barely lived,
stolen in thoughtless destruction.

Seek not reason, yet console these shattered lives.
No one should bear the burden of burying a child,
or see endless dreams & aspirations shattered in an instant.

Find comfort in knowing their memory lies eternal in all that they touched.
Crowd out saddened, silent thoughts with joyous remembrance:
a voice, a smile, a vision,
times together almost forgotten,
all now recollected through sobs.

Tearful acceptance of five lives' premature departures.

Mind numbing anger,
seeking someone to reproach.
Blame God, blame man;
but neither can alter this irreversible act,
this crime against innocence.
A grievance needs redressed.

Somber contentions accompany scornful resentment,
Why this? Why now? Why them?
Why not souls more deserving of such fate?

At first breath lurks death's darkness,
in death, the rebirth of life.
This is not forever goodbye,
we'll all be reunited in time.

-dedicated to lives not lived.

(My heart goes out to the families and friends of the five students killed by arson in Columbus, OH on April 13, 2003)

this is a really touching piece and well deserves to be seen so i wont close it, but please read the guidelines, in particular this section:

4) HOW OFTEN CAN I POST?
In order to accommodate the many “poets” in our forum, please limit yourself to 3 posts on the first page. No one wants to open the forum and see one person’s name dominating the front page. Share the spotlight with others. We understand that from time to time, old posts get bumped up and it may put you over that limit, and we WILL take this into consideration. But 3 posts on the first page is from hereon our max, and if you violate this, your excess posts will be moved to the Deleted Messages forum and you will be sent an email asking you to repost it once you are below 3.

as you now have 5 posted on the front page.

thanks for writing this, im in australia and didnt even hear about any fire, but that doesnt make it any less saddening. my heart goes out ot those who lost someone..
