Beyond the beyond.
I was just wondering, when a seed site says that a certain plant yields 500-600g/m2, is that talking about right after harvest? I mean, I read an article that said that Super Lemon Haze can have a yield of 1000g per plant outdoors, but am I to believe that I would really get nearly 35 ounces from one harvest, or is that uncured, undried weight? And if so, what would that 1000 grams turn into once cured and dried?

not a whole lot.
on the sites they generally mean if you grow it under pro conditions etc.

in reality unless you know exactly wtf ur doing the final yield isnt really what they say it is

Yeah some of my friends have fairly nice grows and their yield never hits the claimed four ounce or whatever weight those sites claim. But I'm sure if you got good enough you might be able to reach the mark or possibly surpass the weight.

Oh and btw if you grow outside you can get some really big plants with huge yields.

So is that number that's quoted on certain websites regarding yield before or after the bud is dried and cured? Because saying a plant could have 500-600g per square meter (Sea of Green I'm guessing?) fresh but dried and cured it would be WAAAAAYYYYY less, right? So what's the deal?

generally for yield per sq m, yes, it means for sog or scrog setups, and i can only imagine they mean fresh weight as i had 3 WR plants
soil grown and got about 5 oz total.

just keep in mind the numbers are really only true if you do everything pretty much perfect.
of course with hydro setups, scrog setups and growing outdoors (in a good place) all of these options will always produce more harvest yield than a simple "plant in soil n leave it to grow".

my uncle just harvested one white widow x bid bud plant (hydro grown) and yielded 3 1/2 ounces once dried and trimmed.. I was pretty damn happy with the yield, my unlce was not at all, dissapointed even...So I guess it varies alot. (Im no greenthumb myself but I read alot on it)

I also wonder what these stats often mean...I think you just get an idea of whether its a high yielding plant by comparing it to what they say other strains yield.

i.e. Hmm the seedbank said White Widow could harvest 400g/m2 but that Big Bud can harvest up to 800 g/m2.....So i will get twice as much off a plant of big bud than I will from white widow assuming the same growing conditions....just a theory

you also have to take into account that for each strain, including hybrids, they all have their own unique combination of needs etc

i see those #'s and i think; high - mid - low yield.

most seedbanks will separate them by indoor/outdoor, but thats the estimated dry weight on average for the geneticist, pro farmer, absurdly ideal indoor conditions, or outdoors in the most suitable microclimate.

everyone that spends time growing will find a strain or two that suits them, and the grower can really peak the plant with natural ability, years of practice, gear!, luck, & TLC.

you can expect 4 oz per plant indoors if you do things right. Outdoors, the sky is really the limit. 2 pound plants are not unknown if conditions are right. Also most of those yields listed are probably dry weight, since you lose like 50% of the weight when you dry it.

To the OP. Ive never seen anything that big in real life outside but have seen photo's and could believe it is possible. Ive seen a 14 oz plant outside but it was grown by an old timer who had been practising for a long time.

The best I would expect starting out is 6-8 oz maybe better if you have some nice weather where you live.

Really, it depends on strain, growing conditions, but also very important is how long the plant is left to veg for (we are talking indoor here).

To take your strain you mention for example (Super Lemon Haze), I grew one of these plants indoors with the following specs:

1. Vegged for 50 days
2. Topped at 20 days, above the 3rd node, resulting in 3 main colas and 3 large, secondary main colas (I'd advise to top above the 2nd node, but I screwed up)
2. 420w of CFLs (around 35 000 lumens)
3. Soil grow
4. Proper Nutrients + black strap molasses in flowering
5. Additional CO2 added in last half of flowering (not sure if this added much at all, but nonetheless I did it)

This plant got me 7oz of dried & cured bud.

So really, it just depends on many factors. If you really put a lot of time and energy into one plant, the results can be great. Since all my product is for personal use only, and I only go through a gram a week tops, one plant's yield will go a longggg way.

(If you want more info on growing this strain, I have a detailed grow journal on rollitup that I can send you the link to)
