I was reading this thread

http://www.drugsandbooze.com/showthread.php?39037-Loperamide-Works-Finally/page3

And I must say, these are experience users, not many of them opiate naive, and their experiences are much, much different than most of what I see over here...any similar stories from you guys? And also, when one is tapering and quitting Suboxone, can you use loperamide as a WD aid, without just prolonging WD's? My thoughts were taper down to a tiny sub dose, take loperamide for 3-5 days, then stop, and hopefully avoid any serious WD's, but I've heard/read that loperamide itself causes dependance and can have ensuing WD's after cessation.

Taking loperamide for such a short period of time, i.e. 3-5 days, shouldn't give you any problems dependence wise. I'm hardly opioid naive and have gotten legitimately high from doses of 90mg-220mg loperamide. It's kind of hit or miss, however. 100mg won't always produce the same level of high, with or without potentiation.

I haven't had the chance to use it to aid in w/d, at least never in such high doses as I have experimented with recently, but I'm sure it could help. I'm sure you could become dependent on loperamide, but I would think this would require really high doses for at least a week. The just to say, given it's strong effect on the GI tract, I'm sure w/d from loperamide would SUCK, so certainly something to avoid. Using loperamide at high doses, for two days, didn't give me any of the sever constipation one might have expected even one high doses to have caused, however.

With a good suboxone taper, I think you could pretty much avoid almost all the w/d symptoms. That is, assuming you're jumping off point for the suboxone after you have stabilized at a dose that is less than 1mg, and also assuming you are eating and sleeping well during this time, not putting to much stress on yourself work/school/family wise, etc. etc.

As I said, 3-5 days of moderate-high loperamide use shouldn't give you much of a problem once you're done using it. Good luck!

Like 3 years ago I read a solution of loperamide polysorbate 80 and something else was injected and it more effectively crossed the bbb causing analgesia, it was probably bullshit tho i never looked into it cuz it sounds dumb just a cool idea lol

dont use it longer than a week. loperamide withdrawal is far worse than suboxone withdrawal.

do not inject loperamide. do not try and "turn off" your blood brain barrier. this is beyond stupid. think about it.

when i tapered to a lose dose before i was fuckin with dope, about 60mgs of oxy, i took about 20mgs of loperamide in the morning and it made my days so much easier. i did this for like 4 days. each morning decreasing by about 4mgs (give or take 1). when i stopped the lope, my wds were still there but not as bad if i did not take lope(sorta like a taper) and just do a cold turkey. it was a great thing. i wish i knew about it when i cold turkey about 80mgs of opana a day :(

definitely sounds like it would make more sense to use it during WD than to just go cold turkey. Obviously cold turkey is the "best" method but when you have to go to work and can't afford to just take a week off, it's just not an option. I was just a little confused if by using lope during WD, you're really just substituting drugs, and when you stop taking lope, you're still in for the same WD. But if the WD from lope is a lot easier than other opiates (when used for a week or less) then it seems like a no brainer.

I thought lope was an easy way out of WD, so I took it when I stopped bupe. When I started to taper and withdraw from the lope, I said "screw this, it's even worse that bupe WD" and went back on bupe so I'll try again and do it right next time.

There's no easy way out of WD. You can't cheat and win. The only way I think you can get away without the agony is by being put into a chemically induced coma and being rapidly detoxed.

of course there is no easy way out but you can make it easier on you. with lope, if you take just enough to make WDs bearable, than it's going to help you quit. i know when i am in complete agony i would do anything for a bag of dope.

i dont know why anyone would want to take lope in the 100's of mgs for weeks and months. its crazy

that would do it. but you would need months and months to get that low. loperamide and buprenorphine love to stick around in the fatty connective tissue.

youre looking at months after the last dose to actually have the chemicals out of your system.

i would also presume loperamides half life is a lot longer than what people read on the internet. the data is assuming a typical, therapeutic dose.

when someone is consuming anywhere from 20 to 200mg a day, the half life will likely be affected. since it's STOPPING YOUR BOWELS and loperamide is excreted primarily THROUGH THE BOWELS, then its not going anywhere. if you don't shit for 3+ days then you're really not excreting ANY loperamide metabolites.
