Bluelighter
These are a couple of peices I wrote for my creative writing class. Tell me what you think, good or bad I'd like to know.
Nothing Gold Can Stay
Nothing Gold Can Stay,
It never made sense to me before.
People tell me that it was bad
even before I found it,
but now I'll never know.
They say the feeling is gone,
the people aren't the same.
It's not about the music now;
people care more about the drugs
than one another. The hugs are gone,
people bring weapons instead of suckers
and sell fake hits. Promoters promise
the world without securing the venue and
the police use force. Every reason to
never go back, to dismiss the notion entirely; yet the music calls.
The deafening bass, the rhythm
driving your body. The endless smiles,
lightshows and Vicks inhalers.
Truly a double-edged sword;life on the line.
And I miss it dearly.
The Newbie
I couldn't see his hands as they moved.
They were hidden in the dense spiderweb
of softly looping illuminescent swirls.
He stopped to catch his breath
as the music slowed.
I stepped forward and asked him
how he did that.
He replied with a sly smile,
"Can you tell me how you dream?"
