This is kind of where I was getting at. Last Tuesday, it seemed that there were issues with the sound system at the Mel and was hoping some supplemental sound would be brought in for such a high talent act.
I know quite a few people were already planning to attend the Cincy party before this show was even in stone. Given it's on a weekend, has better sound, and as mentioned it's a bigger venue with the option to check out the basement as well, $10/door in Cincy seemed strange when it's $15/door here for lesser sound, smaller venue, and a weekday show.
Not trying to be snarky, but my g/f works early during the week and will likely miss tuesday night. I don't really want to pay twice to see the same act, so I have to weigh my options.
first off...cincy is pulling a much bigger market than we are. they get to pull heads from dayton, cbus, cleveland, lexington, and louisville on a WEEKEND. we are pulling from basically here and maybe a few of the aforementioned cities (and those people only being evol intent fanatics).
touching on another point...presales are TEN DOLLARS. w/ out of state or student ID you get in for TEN DOLLARS. if you go to the above and beyond show the night before and save your stub you can redeem it for a reduced entry of TEN DOLLARS.
another issue...you're concern with the sound. do you think we would go to all this trouble to literally provide you a great show limited by the house setup at the mel?????? top speed and richie august are one thing, but evol intent is another. i think you're forgetting that even if juxt is somewhat of a business venture, it's still in its infancy. everybody that shows up and participates in the organizational end of the night is pretty much doing it for the love...every month we figure out how to make the night better and let me tell you that putting evol intent on the monthly lineup was one of those things. we will provide extra sound to accomodate the talent, rest assured...
one more thing...in comparison with vexed III and their production crew you have to notice one IMPORTATNT detail. they have been planning this show for months...i think it's been six or more since their last event. we have to plan week in, week out for EVERY WEEK to make sure the lineup is solid and diverse enough to keep people coming in the door. we just do what we can within our limits...
