I got a bag full of historic funk to drop. I'd suggest being there early ;)

ugh . . .

Thanks for another quality installment from the Juxtapoze fam.

Taylor coming through with the genre switcharoo and KILLING it while stepping away from his norm was nice and Jack opened with what may be my favorite house track evar! Again I wish I could've stayed longer as the vibe was very nice last night.

weird, I've seen two laptops fail lately with serato at the mel, neither one had a glowing apple on the front, just saying you might wanna re evaluate that fail statement.

can't say that now, can ya', Jobs Lover!

Sorry I couldn't make it out. No heat + No Defrost + Frost on Windows = No Drivie.

Especially in the hood, where Whitie be lookin' for any excuse to pull a bruv ova' . . . !

yep, still can. I don't call the battery running out of juice failing. Nice try :D

and also, no more of that whitey shit. it's my turn, blacky is in office holding my white(real white actually, like glowing) ass down LOL

Had a great time playing some broken noise for the mel! That is the 1st time I have ever played anything but 4/4 out. Wish I hadnt forgotten my power supply...1st time I have done that also. I always enjoy hanging with the Juxt crew. THX!!!

btw.. Thanks to Jimmy for the bit of tape ; ) I think the short is internal though. Just gotta smack it a few times and it always comes back. The wire has no effect.

And I'd believe it, were you in prison . . . and Blackie was literally holding your ass down . . . for your own personal true-to-life rendition of almost every episode of OZ . . .

I could see that. I'm just taking every opportunity I get to play the blacky holding me down. I've probably only got 4 years to use it, lol

year end review...

so i would like to start a discussion on the rest of the month and to segue into one that touches on the future as well. please save the general sarcastic retorts to a minimum...this is basically a "year in review" for residents and fans/friends/supporters alike. serious input is encouraged and appreciated :)

first off...let me personally say that the past six months of Juxtapoze has been officially a success. from taking the night away from Konkrete Jungle obscurity to establishing a "brand" with flyers and promotional efforts we have all contributed to something really special. not a single one of us has any real promotional experience but we have managed, despite a lot of unforseen obstacles, to keep it pulled together. looking back we literally have had a local "who's who" lineup amongst the incredibly talented resident pool we already tout as well as some rather ambitious attempts to diversify the musical menu. lessons have been learned but i think i can speak for everybody involved that what Juxtapoze has become is something EVERYBODY can get behind. even if you're not into whatever specific genre that grates your musical palette...more than likely you're going to be into the positive vibration of "community" we have helped establish with tuesday night. saying that, i think we all would like to see tuesday night continue to grow and flourish and a big part of that is feedback from our sphere of influence :) so please don't hesitate to let us know what you want to see more of (and what you think could be improved!).

secondly...i would like to talk about the rest of the month's lineup. next week we have a rather impressive lineup chock full of talent that shouldn't be missed. a rather eclectic blend of genres for the night which is probably going to lean towards the grimier/dirtier side of things (something which has been a juxtapoze specialty as of late). i know starsteady is ready to make his juxtapoze debut as well as punqz doin things dong-style with their local debut as well :)

the following week is a special event (and also highly ambitious) aimed at raising money through donations for the YSC (young survival coalition) which is an organization that raises breast cancer awareness primarily for women under the age of 40. for more information on YSC go to http://www.youngsurvival.org and see what they're all about :) we lucked out having another "five tuesday" month, but in the spirit of the holidays (and the spirit of selfless giving and social consciousness) i felt it would be good to do something charitable and think "outside the box" about how we were going to do it. after toying with the idea and bouncing it off the juxt residents it truly has become near and dear to my own heart. with a super-deep lineup and a cause that touches almost everybody personally directly/indirectly i'm hoping that this night will not only raise awareness for breast cancer, but also help tuesday night shed the image of the "rude-boy ruckus" that has lingered over the past few years. just to maintain the friendly promoter policy i attended an awesome party in louisville thrown by lady foursquare last night...and by judging her performance let me personally tell you that she is going to BRING IT. i was thoroughly impressed with her mixing and her presence behind the decks as a dj...she had people clapping, whistling, dancing and smiling! all of which are things we need more of on the melody inn dancefloor. couple her with the amazing talent of local techno legend shiva, bloomington minimal producer rebecca ciaglia and indy favorites fate and missnick and you have one helluva of a night with proceeds going to a very important cause. i encourage everybody who has dj'd for us, who attends on a regular basis or anybody who is interested in what we're doing to make it out for this night and support our philanthropic efforts!!

finally...the end of the year...boy, we have gone out of our way to pull out all the stops for the last two shows ;) straying from our electronic roots on the 22nd we have a live jazz-fusion quintet taking the stage with super special guest MC Rusty Redenbacher droppin' some black thought/roots type vibes over the crunchy jazz licks and bouncy bass rhythms. did i mention that we are also proud to have andy and annie skinner do their thing to open up for the band!? aside from being an early birthday throwdown for annie, it's also a collaboration effort between A-Squared & Juxtapoze help needy families stay fed during the holiday season with a canned food drive. we are providing back-to-back weeks that are most definitely in the spirit of giving...and by attending you are helping us give back to the community by being a part of something extremely positive!

...then we get back down to business...once the holiday crunch is averted we all crash back to the cold reality of january and a bevvy of new year's resolutions :( fortunately for indianapolis we can only be good for so long before we go back to our roots: damaging dancefloors with attitude ;) we have a SICK SICK SICK two-room lineup with some special tracklisting requests...be prepared for manic, gizzmo, brandon kaye, TOP SPEED :D:D:D and Abel of GEIN all steppin outside the box with sets featuring classic cuts and perhaps even a few genre-gears being changed from what you're familiar with. this is the third time we've proudly had Top Speed on our lineup...and without a doubt he has brought the party more than any other dj (no disrespect) that's been on that stage. if you haven't attended a juxtapoze show with Speed on the lineup...i highly recommend (as well as anybody else who's been there to witness the best in indy WRECK it) you take that wednesday off, call in late, whatever...BE THERE. did i mention that the PBR Lounge will be a giant junglist jam-fest?? well i just did =D you know who we are...we don't need any introduction ;)

so...as a final note from me...i want to say thank you to everybody involved with this night. it's been a labor of love as well as highly rewarding in terms of establishing something important to the music and arts scene in indianapolis. i don't need to name drop but i'm going to anyways ;) these are all the people i feel have contributed to Juxtapoze and without them the night wouldn't be so special.

to all you promoters/dj's with other nights in the works...keep ALL OF US in mind for your forthcoming events. solidarity is the foundation of Juxtapoze...and is an important part of reviving our scene from the shambles its been in for far too long.

without further ado...george's props go to:

Arsenic Jimmy - without you we wouldn't have 6 months of some dope ass fliers. you're a big part of what this night has become, don't ever forget that ;) everybody please be sure to thank him for helping us reel in Evol Intent and for his artistic design contributions. for someone who earns $40/hr desiging but did all of our fliers pro-bono he deserves some much needed kudos.

Sherwood - Rookie of the Year award goes to you, my friend. without a doubt one of the more passionate members of juxtapoze, for better or for worse, but without him tuesday night isn't the same.

Jim Psynapse - dedicated and humble...always lurking behind the scenes but always down to provide equipment and support the cause. did i also mention that he's a phenomenal dubstep dj?? wicked dub-christ on the decks is one of my favorite dj performances in the city. thank you for your devotion to the cause!

Dave Owen - the man. the legend. my partner in pisces...and the other half of the someday soon to be collab HatchetWound. everybody be aware that dave owen is making some major moves in the dnb realm having tunes signed to creative source and the almighty good looking recs...congrats to you, dave, for being a flagship member and an ambassador of druma and bass in the city. juxtapoze is proud to have you as a brother in arms.

JD - the energy legs of juxtapoze. mother nature won't tell him to slowwwwww dowwwwwwwwn because she knows the power of his power-thirst consumption ;) always a pleasure to have around and a purveyor of all things that are awesome...your wit and humor are just as important to juxtapoze as your dj skills and vinyl collection ;)

tha Doc - holdin it down on the internet tip and also providing an auxilliary online radio show on deepbassnine.com every wednesday night, Mr. Jeter has just as much in the works in the studio as he does on the decks. with his dubstep tunes getting attention and dj'ing some pretty awesome non-local gigs nobody has an excuse to sleep on tuesday nights favorite hype-man <3

Gizzmo - even though he isn't the oldest...he's the most versatile dj on the resident roster. i don't have to suck his dick on the web for him to know how much i respect his participation with juxtapoze. even if he does suck Apple's dick...i still appreciate everything he does behind the decks as well as a participant in the midwest EDM scene.

Parallel - the drummer of juxtapoze...as well as an extremely underrated and under-appreciated local talent. people!! wake up!!! this guy makes some fucking awesome hip hop as well as drum and bass plus some dubstep (new release on savory audio is NAAAAASSSSTAAAAYYY!!!)with releases out and on the horizon. don't sleep on his seriously deep collection of dubwise dubs, either. personally, i cannot express enough how much i respect brandon as an individual and as an artist. one love, bredrin. jah know ya big, seeen =D

Jeremy - resident juxtapoze consigliari and one of our most appreciated supporters...he brings balance to the force.

Rob - without the moustache anymore my dreams of getting that musky moustache ride will have to wait until the next time he breaks up with a girlfriend and decides not to shave for 12 months :)
thanks for supporting us and being our number one fan <3

Karla - best bartender at the mel next to rob...she works hard for the money...so hard for it, honeyyy...everybody, you better treat her right ;)

Kyle - for helping with the sound issues...

Top Speed - nuff said. words aren't enough to express how much your support of juxtapoze has meant to us. much love, homie : <3

and...after that mouthful...i just want to let every Juxtapoze resident know how much i care about what we have started TOGETHER. some do more than others but everything I DO is for US. i take a lot of pride in participating in this adventure...and i just wanted to air it out how much love i have for the juxtapoze kru. ALL KRU MUSS BIG'UP

to every dj that has graced the stage at the melody we all extend a round of applause for your efforts...and in doing so you've helped us keep the music alive in indy ONE TUESDAY AT A TIME ;)

got some vids up over here

big props to the juxtapoze crew for coming out on top in 2009. Looking forward to next year. :)

Any thoughts on weekend shows similar to the Sessions shows? There are a lot of people who would like a taste of that juxtapoze soup, but they work early on wednesdays.
