What the Bleep
(Ragga Jungle - Bowling Green, OH)
[Electronic Enlightenment, Konkrete Jungle Bowling Green, jungletrain.net]
http://www.djwhatthebleep.com/
http://www.facebook.com/djwhatthebleep
http://www.soundcloud.com/djwhatthebleep

You'll quickly realize that all of the "track record" type facts about What the Bleep are unimportant. You probably don't care about all of the places he' played and all of the DJs he's opened for. And it makes no difference how many years he's been DJing. There are, however, three things that make What the Bleep unique:

First, What the Bleep is a humble junglist. He has set aside the misguided ego, attitude, false pride, and self-interest that has become prevalent in music performance, instead building his career around purely serving the listeners of jungle music. The "big picture" of underground music culture rarely leaves his mind; he knows that everything is much bigger than himself.

Secondly, What the Bleep thinks of himself as a soldier. Not in the militant sense, but as a mentality. He fights for what he believes in and defends his ideals adamantly. He values individualism yet he knows the necessity of joining the army of the like-minded. His ambition and unwavering will is what drives him to live his passion.

Lastly, What the Bleep is synonymous with ragga jungle. From old skool vocal-heavy ragga to dubwise drum & bass to new skool amen business to experimental dub-influenced jungle you didn't know existed, he covers all the variations. He feels there is a truly unique emotion present in the ragga vocalisms that are juxtaposed on top of jungle's infectious beat structures. His goal is to facilitate (through dancing and deep listening) better understanding of the spirit of Jamaica and the emotional power of dance music. Listen carefully as boundaries are broken, uplifting vibes are concocted, and ragga jungle is delivered to you in a way you've never heard it.

Vennatics
Cincinnati, OH
http://soundcloud.com/vennatics

With over 11 years Production experience and 8 years DJing under his belt.Cincinnati Native Mike Georgiton aka Vennatics is no stranger to the music scene.Having multiple releases under various record labels over the years.Originally producing and DJing Electro IDM and New School Breaks, until 2008 when he first got a taste of Dubstep.
Before crowds were ready for full Dubstep sets Vennatics would play Fidget and Jackin house with a touch of Dubstep woven into the set, to introduce but not overwhelm the crowds with the upcoming genre.
It wasn't until early 2010 locally when crowds fully began to embrace the genre, then Vennatics quickly became a staple in the scene.
In this last year Vennatics has become a crowd favorite locally and regionally. Vennatics currently plays a very Dubstep heavy set and usually throws in Glitch Hop ,Fidget, And Drum and Bass to spice it up. His sets are known for being very dynamic, and extremely high energy.

Vennatics Also hosts and is the resident DJ for Wobble Wednesdays in Cincinnati. It is a weekly night showcasing the best DJs in the genre.

Ben Wu has been DJ'ing for over a decade. His style has constantly been evolving and changing from day one. http://www.myspace.com/djmattporter
http://www.twitter.com/djmattporter
http://www.inhousemusic.net/

In 1995 Matt Porter went to his first Rave and instantly knew that he had found where he belonged. For almost 15 years now Matt has been DJing and helping out the underground electronic music scene in various ways. He started by helping to create a magazine named Stellar Awareness and then a few years later he opened a clothing and record store in Indianapolis, Indiana named Univibe. Over the years he has also helped throw many electronic music events. The largest one was named YesFest and was held in Southern Indiana back in 2000.

Here now in 2011, his focus is back to his true love, DJing. His music is rooted in house, but his sets contain a mix of anything with a heavy bassline. This consists of a lot of electro house, mixed a little dubstep and breaks, and some old school speed garage.

When you come to see Matt Porter be prepared to dance, cause he loves to see the crowd moving.

* Psynapse vs. Kodama
Indymojo // G-9 Collective
(SPECIAL BOOMBOX AFTER PARTY SET)

A mutated duo borne from the roots of a mighty tree in the middle of a forest. These tree spirits are ancient and wise, offering healing magic, wisdom and insight. Tree spirits act as the guardians and life force of the trees. Responsible for nurturing and growing them, the tree spirits are keen to share their wisdom regarding the care of the planet, particularly that of forests, woods and the wildlife that dwells within. They are also excellent healers, and leaning against the trunk of a tree can bring about great restorative powers.

Tree spirits are not entirely bound to their tree; they can venture a short distance away. Legends tell of folk becoming unsettled in forests at night, because of the tree spirits stirring and walking about the woods.

* LADY BANDIT
Next Era Entertainment - Cincinnati, OH
-Breaks-

Beth aka Lady Bandit always loved to dance and frequent the local clubs in Dayton, Ohio but knew there was something missing. Top 40 just wasn't cuttin it anymore. She starting attending a club night in 1998 and fell in love with the underground music scene. This was the beginning of a wonderful relationship. She was hooked on the pounding sounds of house music. .. It wasn't until later on, 2002, that she discovered the passion that she is pursuing today. Taking turntables as a debt, she fell upon this opportunity, so she took it! Now 8 years later she couldn't be happier. Beth said the only way she would ever stop djing would be if she stopped having fun or stopped progressing. You could describe her style as sexy and soulful. Beth always tried to maintain that feeling. "It's feel good music! Music that makes you feel sexy and just...feel good!" She spends most of her time playing breakbeats but house is her first love. She has been known to play Nu Skool, whether it be dirty, funky, tech-funk or progressive breaks. It really doesn't matter. Just as long as the basslines are deep yet dirty, while the beats are funky. She also plays electro, progressive, and tribal house. "House just makes ya dance!" She has had the opportunity to share the stage with such artists as Paul Oakenfold, Bad Boy Bill, Darude, DJ Swamp, Frankie Bones, Dirty Vegas, Computer Club, John Debo, Green Velvet, Icey, DJ Craze, Baby Anne, Dieselboy, Keith Mackenzie, Terry Mullan, Misstress Barbara, Christopher Lawrence, AC Slater, Micro, DJ Funk, John B, Adam X, Wolfgang Gartner, DJ Swamp, Dirty Vegas, Computer Club, John Debo, Icey, Baby Anne, Dieselboy, Terry Mullan, Misstress Barbara, Micro, DJ Funk, John B, Adam X, Hardware, Josh the Funky 1, AC Slater, Atomic Babies, Paul Johnson, Venom, D:Fuse, Bryan Zentz, Reid Speed, Danny the Wildchild, Claude Von Stroke, Irene, Paul Birken, Woody McBride, Dara, Paul Anthony Dan EFEX and Frankie Vega. Bandit has also played an after party for FUSE-in's Detroit Electronic Music Festival @ The One Fifty Lounge in 2007. Be sure to check out this up and coming dj to a city near you!

i have a problem with that...i'm sorry, but brad's alcoholism is what caused the seizures that inevitably took him from us. his cirrhosis was caused by "lots of drinks"...if you're going to commemorate the memory of bradly pike, how about a moment of silence or an electro-breaks mix? how about a bathing ape fashion show? i just think that it's not the time nor the place to have a bacchanal in his honor considering the circumstances that caused his untimely departure from this earth.

my .02.

i understand what you're saying. everyone that knew brad probably also knew he had a drinking problem.

there's probably been a couple points in my life where i've had a drinking problem also...hell, some kinda alcohol expert would probably tell me i still do.

but, i'm going to a club to hang out and listen to music and think about brad....and i'm not gonna drink water.

probably the way it should be approached is-

"my friend brad died because of alcohol, i recognize the fact that alcohol is dangerous and should be consumed in moderation."

g9matt-altered-thurzdaze-w-eumatik_500.jpg

EUMATIK
http://eumatik.com/
http://www.facebook.com/eumatik
http://eumatik.bandcamp.com/

Eumatik is an original mechanism whose musical concepts are unparalleled in the realm of live electronica and dance music. What makes their approach to music so interesting is their ability to allure the listener with catchy hooks, slowly lead them outside their accustomed musical boundaries by means of developing harmony, and finally bring them back within a single composition. This is accomplished by fusing a diverse variety of musical techniques that range from jazz theory to 18th century counterpoint. Although their music is thoroughly composed, it contains lengthy sections of improvisation that make every live show unique. Eumatik brings elements of hip hop, funk, trance, jazz, dubstep and disco into ideas that reorder the perception of its own genre-based facade by tastefully covering an incredibly large range of musical concepts. Another important aspect that contributes to their thumb-print sound is their mix of vintage keyboards with ultra-modern sound design and synthesis.

As much of their focus off-stage is spent organizing and maintaining a focused outlook on each composition, they’re constantly looking for fresh and innovative ways to use music technology as a tool for improvisation. When Eumatik is on-stage, they strive to keep the crowd dancing while making sure everything is melodically and harmonically interesting at the same time. While performing, the overall form and direction is controlled by Josh Lockwood, who utilizes Abelton Live along with an Akai MPK and APC. Jazz pianist, Ashton Kleemann, is constantly playing signature parts on various keyboards along with a MIDI-keyboard that Josh runs Ableton effects through. This MIDI-keyboard directly interacts with what is being played live to create a bizarre and unique atmosphere of band member communication. Mix in the organic sounds of their live drummer, Derek Shelton, and you hear the UFO-summoning, twist-bopping, trance-inducing, disco-fever-catching sounds that are Eumatik.

With support from....

* Jeremy Daeger (Breaks)
Indymojo/G-9 Collecitve

For 10 years Jeremy has been tearing up the dance floors all over Indy. He found that mixing hip-hop with breakbeat really got people out of their seats and shaking their asses. Jeremy has played along side of DJ Icey, Baby Anne, and the Breakfastaz just to name a few. He is not one to leave the dance floor empty. Hard hitting, in your face, breaks with a smile.

* Psynapse (Dubstep)
Indymojo/G-9 Collecitve

Nicknamed "Dubstep Jesus", this messiah is arguably the most prolific Dubstep DJ in Indianapolis. A Juxtapoze regular, Psynapse likes to lead his congregation through a web of dirty bass-lines and womp wobbles that can convert even the casual listener into a fan. Through natural humility and notable talent, Psynapse has certainly made a name for himself in the last year, playing at Underground Sound, headlining festival stages at Mojostock and Oranje, not to mention the many one-offs, after parties, and monthly/weekly residencies with Indymojo/G-9 Collective, Juxtapoze (Indy), and Perpetual Entertainment (Fort Wayne). He's not one to be taken lightly.

* D E A N N E
Talbott Street
http://www.facebook.com/DJDeanne

Music has always been present in Deanne’s life. As a child of young parents, Deanne grew up in her hometown of Henderson, Kentucky listening to late 70’s and early 80’s rock, funk, R&B and disco artists like Queen, Aerosmith, Isaac Hayes, Earth, Wind & Fire, Rick James and Donna Summer.

In junior high, Deanne would listen to the local college radio station that was playing the freshest hip-hop, R&B, and dance music every Friday night. Unaware that it would ever play a part in her future, Deanne began developing her “DJ skills” making mix tapes of nothing more than a collection of the hottest songs recorded from the radio. “I can remember sitting in the dark, past my bedtime, with the music really low, so my mom wouldn’t hear me. I would wait for hours for a certain song to come on, try and perfectly time recording the beginning and the ending of the song so that I got every beat. I would record the next song right behind the other with no gaps, commercials or DJ voices. I would just jam to those mixtapes, but always excited to make a new one. It seems pretty lame, but I had no idea that it would later be a part of my life.”

In 1996 Deanne moved to Tampa and it was here that she got a taste of what club music was about and what she had been missing by growing up in the Midwest. She immersed herself in the music, trying to find all the tracks she was hearing in the clubs. This continual search for the newest, freshest tracks ignited a fire and unveiled a passion.
It wasn’t until she moved back to Indiana in 1999 that the pieces started falling into place. She began spinning at the only club in Bloomington with a house music format. In the spring of 2003, Deanne moved to Indianapolis and made her Indy debut spinning at the official Indy Pride Festival T-Dance. Late in 2003, Deanne landed a prime Friday night weekly mix show slot on, Miami-based, Energy Internet Radio/EnergyRadio.fm. A few T-dances and special appearances later, she earned a monthly spot in the rotating line-up at Indy’s hottest club, Talbott Street, which has hosted talents such as Paul Oakenfold, Gabriel and Dresden, Starkillers, Mike Cruz, Twisted Dee, Tracy Young and many more.

With weekend attendance numbers near 1000 at the Indy club, Deanne is no stranger to holding a large dance floor captive to her style of mixing. With influences such as Chicago house legend, Ralphi Rosario and the production powerhouse, Peter Rauhofer, Deanne’s DJ style is defined by the spirit and energy of house music. Vocal, progressive, underground and elec-tribal beats and rhythms are combined to take her listeners on a unique journey that is marked with emotion, sensuality, undeniable energy, and wonderful “dance floor drama”. “When I really started going to the clubs and hearing how music was supposed to be played, the best DJ’s took me on a musical journey -a ride. That’s what I want for my listeners, a night of music that they remember and come back for over and over again.” And they do. Ascension is one of the longest running parties in Indianapolis.

Deanne can be heard monthly at Talbott Street in Indianapolis. She also makes quarterly appearances at Twist on South Beach. She played at this year’s Gay Days at Disney, one of the largest LGBT festivals in the United States. Other notable appearances for Deanne include Dayton’s Flight Party in the summer of 2006 and Chicago’s Fireball Festival in 2005. Her mixshow, FixXxation, can be heard throughout the week on G.I.R.L , Party Radio USA and We Dance As 1. Check out djdeanne.com, myspace.com/djdeanne, and the DJ Deanne group on Facebook.com for more details, exact dates and times of appearances, and links to downloads of live sets and other recordings.
