I love how I find out about this the day after. Dammit.

NumberNin6 has been making some lovely tunes. Would have loved to hear him.

PROMOTE MOAR.

they actually promoted pretty well. Fliers, web and physical. Came out to all the recent shows. They were out Tuesday when you played... not sure how you missed the flier :)

Anyway... Sorry I didn't get out. Ride situation fell out last minute.

Hope it was a good one!

DUBSTEP!!

I stayed the night in. It was about time for a relaxing weekend night. Sorry Orange!!! I hope it went well.

actually, if I'm able to gripe at Mark Farina hosted by Slater Hogan for $5, I can put a few nuggets of criticism in here too.

-The openers were alright, but this venue had a very "rave" feel so I'm not sure why there was so much club music. People were there for damn dirty dubstep and you've got some upbeat clubby house opening for him. Might have just been me, though

-The venue: I actually really liked this spot, plenty of room to escape the dancefloor and no one treated the dancefloor like a hallway, which was also awesome. Charging for water (bottled or in a cup) is a pretty big no-no. From the looks of it, there were quite a few intoxicated folk there and offering free water would have been nice. I knew people who had to fill cups in the bathroom because they were broke and DDing. Also, that sideroom is big enough to have a decent turnout while still allowing the main room to do their thing. Apparantly a rock band was going nuts over there, but I had no idea. 8 second saloon (and "tremors") is a massive venue with a ton of potential.

-sound: Heathcliff (Dom) made sure the sound was perfect and it showed. I know some of the DJs were pushing levels and Dom was on top of it all night. This guy deserves a lot of credit for dragging the sound and lighting from ft. wayne. Big props.

-having a coat check (for free!) was awesome! December sucks and carrying a big-ass coat around sucks. Big thanks to Mr. Orange (didn't get a name) for thinking about the patrons.

Overall, I would definitely be interested in another event there. I saw a lot of people I didn't know and only a few I did. $5 for a national dubstep producer/dj is damn good. yet I saw very little of the dubstep "community" at this event. I suppose if you live under a rock, maybe you missed this, but everyone I know had EXTRA 50% off tickets and it seemed like there was promotion for this event all over indy (got flyered at juxtapoze, solstice & blu lounge, multiple times) so I don't know what more the promoters could have done.

I agree. Waaaay rave vibe, I had to spin fidget/clubby/electro to keep anyone even interested, generally I play much more down-tempo/non electro stuff. Kind of strange to throw me in the middle of two 'harder' genres. Nonetheless Number Nin6 was sick. And I believe I saw a few cowboys getting down. Thanks to all involved.

so I don't know what more the promoters could have done.

Flyer home delivery? =D

jk

Ditto on the side room action at 8 Seconds. Good spot. That's where they had Donald Glaude....although, I think the initial intention was to fill the main room...which is probably impossible without bringing Mega SUPERSTAR DJ's like Sasha/Digweed/etc....

That side room is nice though.

LOL@Charging for water. Must've been scared of not making money at the bar with the rave crowd in the house.

Mr. Orange = Kyle

Wish I could've made it. :(

Thanks to everybody that came out! Awesome night, wish some more of you bluelighters would have shown up but to those who did, THANK YOU! We will take your criticism into consideration for our next event. Until next time... <3

on top of the footwork promotion there were also several radio spots on x103.

so...criticism? i have none for carpe noctum. more kudos than anything for bringing out Dom and his rig. shit sounds NICE. to compare it to something else i think that *ahem pay attention g-9* sound set-up would've DESTROYED the main room at Tru instead of the wall of mid-range eardrum damage provided for solstice. just a thought. perhaps the sound equipment itself wasn't bad but without a sound engineer hawking it all the time it's almost moot to have all that sound.

other criticism??? i'll agree that there should've been more peeps out there. yeah...i know your gripes. work :| funds :| drinking and driving :| i don't like dubstep :|

cry me a river. since dec 5th i've been to:

trustus in louisville
juxtapoze w/ starsteady
mark farina
solstice
club nichols house party
dnbradio.com show
juxtapoze w/ lady foursquare
taste of tango
blu
naughty or nice
blackout (threw in a quick trip to midtown grille to see top speed)
pulse

i have just as busy an itinerary as anybody else. work, school, etc.

come out and rep or stop bitching about how much shit sucks.

word, looks like mine minus about 3 of the events. I work 60ish hrs a week and go in at 7:30 am daily. I still manage to make it out, hell I'm old too! :p

It's great the way things are taking off currently. As a dj it's nice to have all types of stuff going on locally. I'm also diggin the variety and fact that everyone is generally gettin down. It's a good time in Indy EDM and we need to embrace it and run with it. <3

I would love to come out... but being unemployed, I'm on like a $5 a day budget... so going out (or at least paying to) is more or less out of the question for the most part.

But I'm pretty sure everybody knows that up until last winter I was out supporting mad shit :)

Indy love! <3
