Space...... I'm just not one for getting beer spilled on numerous times and burned by cigarettes. I don’t smoke anymore but when I did I was still aware of people around me and how I didn’t smoke in peoples faces. Now that I don’t smoke it bothers me even more in places like that. It makes it hard to enjoy a good night out. I leave smelling like an ash tray and my eyes are burning.

If the house crowd prefers no-smoking events -- and that's a big "if" -- would venues be open to going smoke-free for the night? Or would the loss of cigarette sales be a deal-breaker?

Either way, this issue will eventually be moot. We'll probably have a state and/or local ban within the next five years.

I had a great time, except for (as Matt said) my outfit getting a cig burn in it. You know... until this city appreciates the music more than the social things involved with a night... we will have subpar sound, events in locations not built for dancing really, and douche bags who burn you and run into you. We have to do what we have to do.
I think that Slater and Co... did a great job working with what we have and I had a fun fun time on a work night!

I had a blast! I don't know why people would complain about the smoking and spilled drinks aspect of the night - that happens in clubs/bars everywhere. Go to Broad Ripple on a Saturday night and it's almost expected. Not much you can do to fix a particular person, so you learn to deal with it. Besides, I'd rather get a beer spilled on me than have to worry about fights, which is why I enjoy going to these events.

The sound was nice and solid early, but as you progress into the night there is a tendency to push the volume up due to ear fatigue. Seeing as this forum is full of seasoned dancing folks, I'd say you should know coming in to a situation that the sound should might not be up to your standards, or you'll be there all night with loud music hitting your head, so earplugs should be on you as a precaution. If not - that's your own fault.

Most people got presales, so you either paid 5 or 10 bucks to hear a house LEGEND who hasn't been to Indy for almost a decade. Even at $15, that's a damn good deal. $1 PBR? Even better for those who want to drink on the cheap. It's like there would need to be free coke and handjobs at the door to please everyone!

It was a bit difficult navigating around the dancefloor area, but seeing as it was packed and that venue isn't "made" for that, it's kind of a moot point. But they're working on it, so that's promising.

I'm sorry some people got doused or burned - that honestly does suck. Cheap booze and great music can make folks go nuts!

I had a great time, and personally, I'm thankful we even HAVE opportunities to listen to EM of all sorts in places other than our car or at home. Props to everyone who made it happen and thanks gizzmo for the love!

Exactly this. I'm not singling any one person out, but this is always common with events here in Indy and elsewhere.

I had a great time. I saw a lot of people I hadn't seen in almost a year, and that was nice. Props to everyone who played and who was involved.

actually, unless you're wearing suits to a bar, you should expect the possibility of drunks spilling/burning you.

i had a great time. i got free drinks from the apparently 'snotty' downtowners, danced, got spilled on/spilled on others, met a few strangers, saw a few people i haven't seen in a while...

loved the last couple tracks Farina mixed. straight slop but funny as hell.

Definitely wasn't planning on energy drink just before passing out.

This is actually a reason WHY bars should be allowed to stay open at least an hour after last-call . . . sell fruit, juice, coffee . . . give peeps a chance to sober-up a bit before driving home.

After being in the promotion scene for 10+ years now, one thing I have learned is that the electronic music crowd is impossible to please, which is why i don't try anymore.

As far as an inability to navigate?

Find the spot on the dancefloor + stay planted there = problem solved.
