I'm going down there cause I live on the south side. & need to kick-it tonight...................
HOWEVER, while I'll hand The MeL $4 all day long for EDM in a Alcohol-Drinking-Station (bar) not so sure about this place.....never been.......For a "Pay-To-Pay" sort of situation.......there better be some SEERi-Us bangin shit to justify that $ 5.00 US Currency.
.......bangin.

///////////////////sEarIouSly worth5$, on_point everything, would have found a larger turn out beneficial2 evening, maybe a little too bright in there.....good parking ! ;)

I had some long winded rant typed up the other day and closed the window. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. Basically I said if you aren't down to spend a measly $5 to go out on a weekend and support local djs, you should look into look into watching grass grow as I think that's still free. If you're not willing to shell out a couple bucks to help the djs buy the music they love to play then you're gonna run out of places to hear it ;) I've bitched about covers before but it was if it was a $10-$15 show with all locals or something. $5 doesn't seem like too much especially considering you live close.

well

^ i say right here it was worth it. &4 the record I really do want to help support local music that is why I am on here at all. That is why I went to the show altogether. &&&&&&&&& that is why I care that it cost $ 5.00 to walk into a bar that in all reality WANTS me to spend more on alcohol..........
Also i am poverty ridden. $ 5.00 is an amount of $ I have to think about spending, its just a reality. But maybe we should ask some of the many in attendance the other night.....oh right, hardly anybody came.........I wonder why ?.....If the bar is going to charge the cover than they might as well make it free and make it back on drinks. If the promoter is going to charge they are going to at least drop it to $ 4.00 to match the Mel and at least consider moving the night to Fri. as Sat has too many draws and it may not be a good idea to go up against The Mousetrap's new Thurs. night............
Djs.......I hate to be mean, but, lack of payment to most Djs for throwing down some tracks at a club is not going to equate to no Djs. In a scene such as this and with an economy such as this one has to work with what one is given, survival of the cheapest....The Djs who can do it will rise to the occasion......the venue who can offer cheapest cover/no cover will attract more people in the long run.......I'm serious about that attendance shit.....& I'm talking about other EDM nights in this city too....MOST VIVACIOUS PROUD YOUNG INDIVIDUALS ARE NOT GOING TO CALL UP THEIR HOMIES AND GO: YO DUDE NOT GOING OUT TONIGHT I CANT AFFORD AN EXTRA $5BUCKS...........
In conclusion, I would have felt just dandy about $ 3.00 which sounds about right for a NOT-A-RAVE show........then I would have bought 2 of their $ 1 waters and I makes it MORE worth it......
ALSO WE SHOULD CARE ABOUT DJS, VENUES, THE SCENE AND DO WHAT WE CAN TO SUPPORT IT......( PAY THE $5 DOLLARS OR EVENTUALLY THERE WONT BE ANYWHERE TO HEAR THIS MUSIC ? QUITE EXACTALLY THE OPPOSITE.)

they want you to spend more on drinks but they don't FORCE you to spend more on drinks. I've been at this for half of my life (15 years) there are easy ways around that. If you wanna drink, drink before and get a ride to the show, or, take a bottle and leave it in the car and drink there. There aren't gonna be free shows, someone has to pay for venues, sound, lights, talent. I'm personally kind of sick of promoters charging a cover at the door, booking me as a name to bring people in the door, expecting me to play and entertain that crowd that paid them, and them expecting me to pay to play essentially. I've got several thousand dollars invested in this music that we love. It's kind of a slap in the face that YOU the fan are EXPECTING us to do it all for you for free. I'm sorry you're "poverty ridden" but only YOU can change that. I made it for years while not making a lot of money, I was STILL picking up records when and where I could to entertain YOU. The fact that you're perfectly OK with not putting any of your money back into the scene makes me think that you don't support it as much as you think you do. It's unfortunate but we live in a capitalist society where it takes money to survive. As long as you EXPECT locals to play for free this is what you're gonna get. There is ONE promoter in Indy who pays me for playing for him. It's pretty sad that only one promoter respects me enough in my home city to understand that it costs me to drive up there, and buy the music I'm gonna play that night, and the laptop and software. There's one local promoter that doesn't even give "us" a drink ticket or two. It's getting a little ridiculous. How would you feel if your job just expected you to work for free? How about if they charged people to get into the business where you work and even then expected you to work for free. Imagine how you'd feel. As I said, I'm glad you had fun but PLEASE don't complain about a cover. It takes money to keep this scene going and without the patrons of the events kicking a little dough to the door and the promoters kickin a lil dough to the performers, it'll grind to a stop. It's the unfortunate by-product of 2010 capitalism. You really need to wipe the "plur" out of your eyes, it's not all rainbows and unicorns.

I think she was merely posting her skepticism in her 1st post. She checked it out regardless, which is cool.

yeah, however, I'm not gonna sit quietly and let someone bitch about paying a $5 cover to get in a show. It's not that much fuckin money and it supports and keeps EDM alive in the city. Like I said, there's only one promoter in Indy that pays locals(and thank you BTW) so the djs around here could all use the help to try to get back some of the thousands we've invested in entertaining them.

^ right, I'm just sayin $4 sounds more fair for a bar. & THATS REALLY THE BASIS FOR THE ARGUMENT......this is a bar.......& For christs sake ( Case in point):::::;If you want to have 10 people dance to some EDM put in in someones basement and save us all the hassles......
:::::::::::::If you want to drink a PBR & listen to Arosmith go do it at a bar for free...........Its like if you sqeezed Kings Island into a semi trailer and was like......well we have costs......and you have to pay them otherwise the paradise of fun that is Kings Island in a Semi Trailer will End...........
*gasp* oh- no. ----- Its just the fact that we are there for the music and if the scene and economy is struggling that bad maybe we should figure out how to cut out some costs.....like Venues.......or learn to work with them better.........(Case in point #2)
Electro Wed. FREE COVER @ TRU
AlteredThurs. FREE COVER @ Mousetrap

you bitched about a $5 cover, I said it's not that much then explained why. What the fuck are you talking about I need further instruction? Is the all caps supposed to be intimidating or what?

cut to the end scene, you went, you got your $5 worth. Great. Come see me on a Tuesday and I'll buy you a drink and we can discuss this where vocal tone can maybe make it less aggressive. I'm sorry it had to be you but I'm sick of people bitching about trivial stuff like a $5 cover. It was only a dollar more than a Tuesday for a Saturday night. Indy's not that big and the local promoters aren't making money hand over fist. We gotta pay as supporters to help keep this shit alive.

..........cool we have no beef.........& I'm sure it will all work out....AT NO POINT DID i EVER BITCH ABOUT COVERthe following are EXAMPLES OF BITCHING and do NOT REFLECT How I feel
or think: ( ex: $5 is bullshit......or ex: paying $5 is Unfair !.....or ex: $5 is NOT worth it....)
^those are some examples of Actual Bitching...........
What I did was: QUESTION. i said it BETTER BE WORTH IT......what I did was to analyze: Is the $ 5 worth it ? will it be worth it ?
You say you're sick of people bitching about stuff like $5 cover....I invite you to consider that maybe you are right about it not being a lot of money (relative to you and they) and that those doing the bitching are really bitching about some attribute of the show that has nothing to do with the $5........its just people find it easy to bitch about money when something else is the really cause of their static when interacting with the scene...........NOT that I was "pre-bitching" because 1 I wasnt bitching....and 2 it was before the fact so I had nothing bad to say, I was just saying in principal...........it better be as such...........shit dude I know we gotta support local DJs and I'll gladly keep coming out and paying that $5.00 however I will ANALYZE THE EVENTS AND THE PROMOTION because that is my skill, I care about the scene and I want to see it blossom.......

the nuvo review was clutch...

sea monkey. HA. that dance floor clearing loser...assuming people's identities in metromix and whatnot. however innocuous he may seem in real life, he's actually plotting everybody's demise one witty comment at a time.
