LOADED
Shiva's Birthday Edition
April 18, 2009
Indianapolis, IN

Dubstep/Garage/Techno/21st Century Bass

DJs:

Searchl1te (Chicago) – Dubfront, Part Time Suckers, Trillbass, WNUR 89.3 Fm : http://www.Searchl1te.com

In the past few months alone, Searchl1te has bombed beats in Buenos Aires, NYC, San Fran,
Vegas, Chicago and all points between. On the turntables or tweaking a live P.A., Searchl1te
lays out monster bass weight and teeth-rattling percussion. Irreverent of genre but observant
of vibes, he brings the substep, sarcopha-beats, yard techno, scandalbass and tech:freek biz.
His tunes are loaded with his own field recordings, samplings from a nerdy collection of vinyl
and collabs with the underground's tuffest lyricists and musicians. The founder of Part Time
Sucker Radio, Searchl1te (a.k.a. Kee – BassByThePound Crew) has been doing non-commercial radio
for a decade with WNUR 89.3 Fm, www.Dubstep.Fm, www.Destroyer.net and www.Dnbradio.com. For a
day gig, Searchl1te teaches reading, writing and music production to incarcerated youth in Chicago.
Visit www.FreeWriteJailArts.org to peep writing, art, and tracks produced by his students.

"[Searchl1te] ditches the brainless foursquare beats that serve as cha-cha diagrams for the honkiest
segment of the club population …His tracks are made of hearty, pulse-pounding stuff: mile-high
quantum-overdrive synth pulses, queasy stereo-phase effects from your best panic attack, and sub-sonic
free falls that aim to evacuate your bowels." -- Chicago Reader

DJ Shiva - SUBterror, Surface Tension Recordings, Dubkraft : http://www.myspace.com/djshiva

For 13 years, Indianapolis techno mainstay DJ Shiva has brought a multitude of techno flavors to
dancefloors nationwide. From electro to minimal, Chicago Jack to Detroit soul, the deepest to the
hardest techno, her attention deficit disorder requires variety in both music and technique.

With her foray into the realm of dubstep, the same rules (or lack of them) apply. From straight
up chest rattling bangers to skeletonized exercises in minimal dub to bits and pieces of electro
and techno, it's all in the mix. Utilizing over a decade of experience on the ones and twos, combined
with the flexibility and creative possiblities of Ableton Live to re-edit, loop on the fly and add
effects and beats, Shiva brings a fresh approach to the dubstep palette.

With her recent vinyl release on Dubkraft (w/ production partner Alien Pimp), as well as running
Surface Tension Recordings (with partner Fibrous Oxide), Shiva is determined not only to spread
the eclectic sounds of dubstep and techno to new audiences, but to quite possibly
live in a subwoofer someday.

Adam Jay - SUBterror, Monoid, Theory : http://www.adamjaymusic.com

Since 2002 Adam Jay has taken the global techno scene by the throat with continuous output on the
most respected labels worldwide. He is, without a doubt, the most prolific and accomplished figure
in electronic music to come out of Indianapolis. He has toured the world as a DJ and live performer
on 5 continents and 17 countries.

His releases are among the favorites of Dave Clarke, Sven Vath, Adam Beyer, Carl Cox and other
techno heavyweights. Best known for his releases on revered labels such as Monoid, Pornographic,
Primate, Primevil, as well as Ben Sims' own Theory Recordings, Adam's sound can be best defined as
soul infused techno with constant movement and motion. With more than 50 twelve-inch vinyl releases
to his name, Adam's musical palette as a producer extends well into his selections as a DJ, earning
him a bimonthly residency in 2008 at the renowned Tokyo club Studio Cube 326.

Sea Monkey - iQ Entertainment, InduceOnline : http://www.induceonline.com

Born and deserted in the Australian Outback, Sea Monkey was raised by a pack of wild dingos. His
passion for music was discovered with the warm joy he took in the death cries of the animals he
slaughtered to feed himself. Logically, this lead to an affinity for Drum and Bass. Sadly, at
the height of his career, the tragic loss of his adopted "son" Xerxes - a spotted panda which no
one could convince him was not a sickly child - caused him to be overcome by a fierce addiction to
animal tranquilizers and fabric softener. Again, naturally, this lead to the evolution of his musical
tastes towards Dubstep. Likewise, in his Downy-fresh stupor, he's sure to take you on a hazy journey
that will leave you asking yourself, "Where am I? How I get here? ...And where the hell are my pants?"

I hope this one will be in the Main Room

Nope. The main room, if it's not filled with like, 500 people, looks cavernous and empty, not to mention sounds kinda poopy without people to absorb the reverb.

I prefer the intimate feel of the lounge. You can have a smaller crowd, and it doesn't look empty. Plus we reinforced the bass for the first Loaded, and will do again for this one.

Personally, I don't like the main room unless it's full.

that shizz gets hot in the summer tho

it does, but if folks support good nights like these, and like Favela Rising (last Thurs of each month), then come summertime once INDOT's "Project Open Market" is complete and the club is more accessible than ever, events like these in the main room would be not only ideal but probable.

But for now, a couple extra 18's in the lounge, and the fact that it snowed here in Indy 2 days ago and the trees are afraid to bloom... i think bass music and the lounge are a nice marriage.

i went the first night...seemed like the turnout was pretty good for a normal run'o'the mill saturday despite market fux0ring accessibility to teh club %)

dammit, I missed the first race due to a saturday night before. Now two weeks later I find myself in a similar situation, hmmmmmm

Well, if there is one to NOT forget about, this would be it. I am getting old. I need some support from all the other "getting old" farts.

yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll be there, just got the walker all shined up!

great get to see Monkey and part of Adam. I hate being a responsible adult sometimes.
